So No swivel or leader? Straight sliding weight directly to the 2 hook rig?
4:55 That was Scotty's house of treasure!
id say restore as long as the gears arent broken id be worth cleanin em up the best u can meany folks use them they still make the jigmaster and peir reels quite similar to those
There is other lakes on the island that produce bigger Cutts
Wrong. First you should describe the top/bottom identification. Then come in opposite the hinge, the shell is very thin and easy to pierce. The blade then slides under the oyster and slices the bottom shell attachment and a quick flip up levers the bottom shell away. Slice the meat from the top shell and, with a little practice, you have no waste, no flapping meat. Source-was a pro oyster guy back in the day (nods to Dizzy if you’re around).

In my car I have left and right. So people sail boats in reverse often?
Yup lol
Im with her, starboard and port are the dumbest thing ever, ive always heard people on boats tell the driver hey go RIGHT OR hey go LEFT. NOT hey go starboard or port😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂
Problem with your logic here. When using left and right you can always apply it to mean while facing the front of the ship and it does exactly the same thing here.
Same with theater, except its stage left, right, and right and left dont change with YOUR orientation.
I remember them alphabetically. Left is before right, port is before starboard alphabetically.
Out of the +60 jumps i have from military aircraft I realize I never asked or understood why they use the same terminology when we are preparing ourselves to jump out lol.
Early aircraft were frequently and consistently referred to as 'ships'
That’s left and this is right
How I always remembered port it’s 4 letters just like left.
in the days between the fall of rome and the rise of modern english language. boats all shared a set of common characteristics. most were propelled by oars and steered with a large oar in the back. the steering board was usually strapped to the right side of the boat just due to tradition, and it also made more sense for the helmsman since most people are right handed. So when you had to bring your boat up to the dock to load or unload, you would want the opposite side to be the one being tied off to avoid breaking your steerboard. So we get "port" as the side of the boat tied to the dock, and "starboard" for the side carrying the rudder. and the terms just stuck, because like he said, right and left change based on what direction your facing. but port/starboard, as well as fore/aft never change.
She must be blonde you'll have to explain it to her four or five times
Cool comment bud
What a idiot, the guy that is
Yeah nautical terms are so outdated. There is bow and stern, fore and aft.
Like with a car, there be thedrivers side And the passenger side
If there is a Stern and a bowel then a left in a right of a ship wouldn't be that far off saying port and starboard just come from back in the day whenever you have a port side that you would get off in the port and a starboard side that would be facing towards the water since ships don't have reverse
The term is actually from viking times the starboard side is always the right side because the steering board was always on the right side and ported on the left. Simplified
Starboard is the longer word so is right. Port is the smaller word so it's left
Awesome video! Thank you for explaining man logic and woman logic. 🙏
There's also the bow and the stern.
This is true
But y the words port an starboard
Historically, port was the side that faced the port and starboard was the side facing the stars. This was because of some steering mechanism on the starboard side that forced sailers to always moor the boat on the port side.
It's the same as left and right. Starboard and port still require you to mentally orient yourself facing the bow to figure out which side is which. Even in this video he momentarily gets it wrong.
Nah, when you spend time on a boat you know which way you're facing. Port is the port side, where you typically tie up. Starboard points to sea, the stars.
@Mattlott222 and how is that any different to left and right?
@@karlmason6145 hes right. when you spend time on your boat, you get used to it and you start to think in those terms vs right and left. it confused the shit out of me at first too.
Not really how it works in practice. If someone says "left" you know very well that the next question is going to be "your left or mine". Using a term that doesn't change depending on orientation is important.
it simplifies … if a boat was approaching you and turned left it could be said it was turning to the right, his right ? your right? left? …if you say he is turning to port there is no question.
Finally someone who gets it!! Thank you
So why do we not have exactly the same problem when driving? The best way to confuse someone is to make a different system for the same thing!!!!
Makes no sense. Cars have a left & a right. The reference is from sitting in the driver's seat. Why can't a boat be the same?
Actually, it is almost exclusively called driver and passenger. Never left and right. You gonna order a "left fender? Right seat? Left mirror? No. It's driver and passenger sides
Had boats before cars
@@ctvwrestno it isn't. The common convention for vehicles is left right front back. If you buy a brake caliper for drivers side front it would be referred to as fitting left front. If you wanted to refer to that wheel (drivers front) you'd say left front. Using driver's or passenger side is not common among mechanics etc
Holy smokes ladies and gentlemen! There's actually someone pointing out facts on the internet
🤔 is that a good thing or a bad thing?
People don't seem to be taking reality very well. I guess they'd rather make up their own.
Especially when you could be in an area so large, that distinction matters
Yea because it's left and left 🤣🤣🤣 or is left and right.
We know left and right I didn’t spend enough time on boats but lived to be in water for many years. Still, my left is always left, so is yours. This doesn’t help me know why
“The word 'starboard' is the combination of two old words: stéor (meaning 'steer') and bord (meaning 'the side of a boat'). The left side is called 'port' because ships with steerboards or star boards would dock at ports on the opposite side of the steerboard or star.” Oh and mariners like tradition so just shut up and get off the boat 😂
You started off so nice giving info, then…
The left side?
submariners too
Dig this content 🤙
Thank you 🙏
That padlock is no good with that hitch pin.lock the pin😢
What do you mean? That pad lock was holding the trailer tongue latch up so I could get it on and off the ball for the purpose of the video. Of course the latch is locked when actually towing.
I'm talking about where the hitch goes into the reciever. If I'm a thief I just remove the hitch pin move the trailer back and hook it up to my truck.just don't someone two steal your trailer 🎉
They have changed this rule every other damn year for as long as I can remember
Really? I’ve been in the towing industry for a long time and it’s always been this way since I started in 2004
Wow I never thot of Dijon! Great idea. Also it’s kinda like a quick sushi with the seaweed. I’m gonna try it
It’s delicious! Let me know what you think when you try it.
My least favourite of all trout. They just aren't pretty to me, and they're always so teeny tiny. Brook Trout is the king.
That’s fair, don’t have Brook trout around here.
Good video guys. Looking forward to seeing more.
Thanks for watching!
Coastal Cutty
Your bank account wont appreciate it though
