The Doubles Breakdown Drill - Training for a 43 Average Player
Просмотров 4397 часов назад
Insta: samsondoesdarts Doubles Breakdown This practice routine takes you through the natural progressions of the even doubles. For example, when throwing for D20, you also need to be prepared for D10 and D5. For D12, D6 and D3 will come in to play. Start by throwing at D20 until you hit it, then move on to D10. Hit D10, then move to D5. Since 5 is odd, hit it again, then move back to D10 and th...

Ah thanks mate. Great to have you here
Love your channel, Sam! I have only been playing since June so I'm learning with you buddy!! love the videos keep up the great work.
Awesome, it’s great to have you here! Keep me updated on your progress
My news darts be here today fi gers crossed
Enjoy them bud. Always a good feeling
@SamsonDoesDarts180 they arrived ,did around clock ,then score training 10 x 3 darts ,then finally singles training scored 48 best was T17T17T17
The score training aiming at 20s only got 33 lol then aimed at 19s and got 55
I'd love a throw analysis bit to price y for me though
Worth it when you get to a stage you feel a bit stuck with how to improve
@@SamsonDoesDarts180 how much is it ?
@@noobztvgaming I can’t remember bud. Best drop him a message. He’s really helpful
Once you shorten that drawback youll have a breakthrough. I used to do it, wasnt happy til the flight hit my shoulder! Now my flight hits my cheek just under the right eye. Try and stand as tall as possible and dont over lean. Keep that elbow as still as possible, as if your elbow joint is pinned to something so its just a pivot point. You're lurching forward on release as if you need power from your body for the dart to reach the board. Itll reach even with a really soft throw as your technique will be better. Look at adrian lewis' throw. And wayne mardle channel for tips. His throw is so simple and repeatable
Mate, this is a great message. It makes a lot of sense and you have completely nailed how I am feeling about why I draw back so far and why my body moves. I need to find more power using my wrist/fingers. The elbow movement is something I really want to reduce, like you said too. I will try those tips. I will check out Adrian Lewis, I have seen a fair bit of 501 as well. Appreciate it.
Great video, thanks Pal!
🙌
I cannot seem to find the ability to throw with drawing my wrist back, it just stays in a fixed position. This also effects my follow through. Great to see your progress
I find it really hard. Especially at first. I think there are some decent videos out there that might help with that too.
Cracking video Samson, great to what you were like and how much you have improved. It may not feel like much, but you can see that you've improved. I think you should try not to move when throwing. I think some would agree that when you're throwing you have a slight lean forwards. Keep up the good work 👍🏼🎯
Yeah I would agree. It is something I have improved but would be good to eliminate over the next few months 👍👍
pulling back darts with fingers and wrist is what i cant grasp my head around
Yeah it has taken me a while to get better at this and I have a long way to go but I’m sure I am using my wrist more now and am better off for it
I started dropping my elbow recently which led to a huge dip in my form. Daniel (straight to the point darts guy) told me to imagine pulling the flight to the ground. I'm having a hard time envisioning what that means, but somehow it helped lol
Something that helps me at times during practice sessions, is to concentrate on keeping the elbow still. Don't focus on the treble, but just on the elbow. It's helped me to reduce lateral movement, and in turn hit more 20s
@@andybarry5315 cheers I need to do this more
I need to get Daniel to take a look at mine. You're still drawing back too far but fix one thing at a time
Yeah i really am. I’m quite aware of it 😅 it used to be worse as well. Small steps 🙌
You aint winning at the city ground mate! Nice vid Sam keep it up 👍
Haha not wrong 😅
As a newcastle fan, I was hoping you wouldn't mention the result 🤣 Get you next time 🤣

Thanks for your videos mate. We started our darts journey together and I watch all your vids since we're actually improving at the same rate. This checkout training is something I'll incorporate in my daily routine.
Ah this is great to hear mate and glad you are progressing too!!
Good luck dude...i'm following your progress, and i hope one day you'll be hitting a 55+ average

have you memorized all the triple values yet?
Pretty much although not quite where I need to be 👍
after 20 years i’m still 10 off 😂
🤣
the idea is to simulate a real game, you wouldn’t keep throwing at 43 if you miss. i would subtract a point if you miss and take that out. then add 1 or 5, whatever, if you hit it. that will also instill the concept you only get one shot, make it count. it will also broaden the range of combinations to practice.
Cheers
Ive got a good game a lad in my league told me. Helped massively with checkouts and doubles. Start with 1 life, you have 6 darts to take out 50 (18, D16 for example). If you get it in the 1st 3 darts you get another life and move up to 51. If you hit it in 6 darts you stay on 1 life and move up. If you dont get the checkout in 6 darts you go back down to the start... 50. A little bit like 121 but lower checkouts for beginners 👍
I like it might give it a go on the channel 🙌
Definitely got the consistency back in your throw dude , looks a lot smoother
Cheers mate. Throwing well
Have you ever scored 180? What is your best score?
Just the one!!!
Another excellent video, cheers and good luck to Fulham!

Great to have you here mate. How’s your training going? I haven’t played online but when I do you’ll be sure to know 🎯🙌
@@SamsonDoesDarts180 It’s going well thanks, really focusing on my follow through at the moment, still very much a 40 average player though 😂 I played online for the first time yesterday, I was so nervous haha
@@TheDartsDoughnut good for you for doing that mate it will only help your game I’m sure!
nice video, was the speed slightly out on the dartboard video today? looks like its about 0.5 secs behind roughly, I know editing can be tricky with these. Ive got a dart tournament on this weekend in my local area - First tournament I have to drive 1hourish to go play darts. Been Practicing about 2hours per day leading up to it
Hey bud. It may have been, my editing is somewhat primitive :D Huge congrats on entering mate. Whatever happens it will be a great experience and you will learn plenty and make sure you enjoy it!!
Hey Samson, on this vid, when you are on 7, 8 & 9, look at your head position against the back corner of your room (as a static point), and see how much it is swaying/moving during the backswing and forward release... moving a good inch or two. Not sure if it'll help you or not but I noticed it during your throw. Good luck Mr, hope your eye heals well!
Thanks for this, it is the main reason I started the channel was to get feedback like this. It is much appreciated. I will take a look and see if I can reduce that
No worries. It's something I've been trying to correct with my own throw and found that it has helped (when I apply it!), which is maybe why I spotted it.
You convinced me to play this game, I threw 10 Doubles ( D1, 2xD5, D6, D8, D12, D13, D15, D17, BULL) You throw doubles well 😊😊😊
This is wonderful to hear! well done you, that is a fantastic effort
Also I'm looking Into joining GDL180 online and phone app online games ,pairs you vs your own standard very small monthly fee ,I def feel that's worth been looked into
Gdl180 is 15 mth though just seen :(
I'm aiming to enter a local ADC event that does round Robin format best of 3 ,you get 4 or 5 games then top 2 of the group go into knockout stage best of 5... So I've started practising best of 3 vs dartbot level 6 ,and when play friends best or 3 aswell. Worth try maybe ? It's got my 3da high 40s pb low 50s
I like it, great plan as well mate keep me updated
What darts are you currently using?
Target Nastri
Bob's 27 is a pretty fun game, i play it quite a bit. I always thought the object of the game was to get around the board without busting (reaching zero) and with as high score as you can get? Usually when i play Bob's 27, if i end up at zero after too many missed doubles, i then go back to the beginning and restart at double 1.
That's correct. When the players score reaches 0, it is game over, so technically the game was over at double 11 when the score was -1.
Yeah I think you are spot on with the scoring.
I might do it that way next time!
Cos bob anderson created it/ made it famous
Cheers 🙌
It's Bob's 27 because you start with 27 points. For each double you hit, you get those points added. If you miss all three at a double, the double of that number is subtracted from your score. So if you missed double 1, your score would drop from 27 to 25. If you missed double 2, you'd drop 25 down to 21. If you hit three double threes, that's nine points added, and you'd have 30. The goal is to stay positive, in all manner of thinking. :) Bob Anderson developed the drill.
You sir have taught me a valuable lesson today 🙏
Good effort, nice video again
Thanks again!
Never actually played Bob's 27 , might give this a go some time Today is going to be my first on line league game 😮😮 wish me luck ha ha 😂

Cheers bro
I have been playing for about 13 years and i probably got to around a 40-50 average over the first year and then have plateau’d ever since and haven’t improved since them first year gains 😂 i still love playing the game despite how terrible i am and watching your videos you post just sparks the urge to play even more. What still irritates me after 13 years is the inability to hit the big numbers! Say im on 53 and want 13 for tops, i would have more luck hitting tops than the big 13!! Now that really bugs me because any decent player should be able hit the big numbers with ease.
Great message. Thanks for this. You’ve made great progress from your starting point and you at least know what you to improve on. So focus on that in a way you haven’t before !
Like you mention in your videos. I think its all in my head. As soon as i need to hit a big number to get me on a double, i feel this sense of anxiety come over me and my throw is just wayward and i can feel the tension and the snatching in my throw. One of my practice sessions is to try and go around the board from 1-20 like you do but having to hit the big number only and you cannot miss. So 20 darts to complete the game. At best i can get to 6-7 before i miss 😂
Hey samson Milk it for all its worth , you are quite simply legen - dairy. What happened to you is an udder disaster , but your darts are certainly moo-ving on and the cream always rises to the top Keep calm samo and lactose on 😂😂😂😂😂

What you described (the reason for the stitches) has actually happened to me. Thankfully I collapsed onto a carpeted floor and just had a massive carpet burn on my forehead. I was told it was cause by the cramping in my bowels making my blood pressure drops that much that I collapsed. The Dr put it down to a really bad episode with my IBS. I've collapsed 3 or 4 times since then with the same thing. The 1st time it happened to me was 15+ years ago, The last time was 4 or 5 years ago and my wife had to call an ambulance out. It's scaring because you aren't completely unconscious either. Glad your feeling a bit better now.
Wow this is probably my most interesting comment yet. It sounds exactly like I had and makes total sense. I read a book on the body recently and how people faint or pass out and all about blood shunting and going to various parts of the body. Fortunately it hasn’t happened to me before and I can maybe prepare myself more if something similar happens again. Maybe tie a pillow to my head 😅
@@SamsonDoesDarts180 - For me I try to avoid foods that set my IBS off it's just that sometimes random foods that aren't normally an issue are an issue.
Credit to Samson for the lengths he goes to, to challenge his darting skills. Love this new, 'Darts With A Concussion' video.
😅🤣🤣
Thank you, Samson, for your videos. I've been throwing off and on for several years. One of my biggest character defects is poor sportsmanship. I'm learning to allow myself bad darts and not lose my temper at myself for them. I really appreciate that. Great video title, by the way!
Good for you my friend. Most of us struggle to recognise our flaws and that’s the hardest part. We can learn from there. Cheers for the message.
Helloooo Samson, glad to see you're still kicking around and throwing arrows after the milk incident.. The darts are looking sharper in terms of release despite your criticisms of inconsistency etc. I predict a very swift increase in your skill over the next few weeks based on how you're throwing now. With regards to my own game, I've been throwing Littler Gen 1 pixels with intermediate K--flex or intermediate Target Pro Grip stems now since April. The other day I randomly switched to the Luke Humphries TX1 darts, as my throw was going all over the place with the pixels, and I'm using the Joust XL 65mm Humphries stems also, and I've never thrown better in my life. I'm not sure if it's cognitive bias since Humphries is my favourite player, or a honeymoon phase, but I'm playing my best stuff ever. Sort of reminded me of you switching back from the Asp G2s to the Nastri's, I think sometimes raw intuition and feeling might rule all in this game... Keep up the grind, looking forward to your next videos.
Helloooo! Haha, yeah, still kicking after the infamous "milk incident" and now rocking an eyebrow scar as well! 😅 Thanks for the kind words on the darts - trying to iron out those inconsistencies bit by bit. I’m hoping that prediction of yours holds true. Interesting about the dart switch! The Humphries TX1 with the Joust XL stems sounds like it’s really working wonders for you. I get what you’re saying about raw intuition sometimes taking the lead. Sometimes a fresh setup just feels right, and maybe it’s not all in our heads. Switching back to the Nastri’s felt like coming home for me too, so maybe there's something to trusting those gut instincts! Glad to hear you're throwing your best stuff ever. Keep riding that momentum! Appreciate the support, mate, and I'll definitely keep the videos coming. Cheers!
@@SamsonDoesDarts180 Love to hear that, will be following my predicted improvement closely as time goes on. Yeah the Humphries darts are a weird one, I really didn't think I'd like a barrel below 50mm in length but it is really working greatly. You're absolutely right about the gut instinct, sometimes that can give you that "ease" of throw as well if you're silently confident subconsciously in a new setup.
🤣🤣 Love it. Been watching your vids mate as i only started playing properly in April this year. We should organise a game on Darts counter as we're at a similar level 👍
Ha cheers mate! When I decide to play online I will let you know bud. Enjoy your throwing.
Some time you need less milk with your cookies! Heal up quickly if you plan on any soccer practice. We need to come up with a better storyline, you reached for the goblet and it fell into your eye! Or you were starting rugby and the scrum was difficult. Keep rocking out these videos
These are far better stories than mine. Just spending each day embarrassingly telling anyone who asks the cold boring truth. 😅
After years of addiction to cynical, conspiratorial, provocative, pseudo-intellectual, attention-seeking and agenda-pushing content on RUclips, it is a genuine joy to watch a channel like this one... Especially, as it ties in with my love of actually learning to play darts, as opposed to just watching it.
Ah thanks mate. Really appreciate that 🙌. Have a great day
I'm in my own beginner darts training journey so appreciate comparing notes with your experience. I think darts epitomizes the "beginner's luck" syndrome where you play ok to start. Then once you try to get better and run into frustrations the mental aspect of how impossible it is to hit, say, doubles consistently can gnaw at you. But after grinding a while you have some success and then you get better again, mentally, because your brain has seen you do the things you're trying to hit so you know you can. My biggest mental hurdle now that I'm still surprised when I hit my target, e.g. treble 20, and I have to recover from that. The other mental hurdle I'm at now is believing that hitting a treble can fit more than one at a time in a 3 dart turn.
Thanks for sharing your experience! I totally relate to what you're saying about beginner's luck and the mental hurdles in darts. It really does feel like there’s a phase where you get stuck, and the frustration builds, especially when you’re trying to hit doubles consistently. For me, it’s been about trusting that the process works, even when the results don’t show immediately. The more I practice, the more I start to believe that I can hit those trebles or doubles because I’ve done it before, like you said. I think the surprise when we hit our target will lessen with time as our confidence builds. And yeah, that mental block about fitting multiple trebles in a single turn is real! Keep grinding, man-it sounds like you’re making solid progress!
