When Hikari no Disco dropped I’d listen on repeat daydreaming and imagining what kind of stellar dance Perfume would’ve given us had it been their song💖💖 It’s weird that some of Nakatas other regular artists he works/worked with have had overlap in covering one another songs but never has Perfume covered another of his regulars songs as far as I know Like Dreamin Dreamin was a Capsule song but MEG who was a artists he worked on multiple albums with also got Dreamin Dreamin for a cover. I love bother versions and flip flop between which is my favorite depending on what mood I’m in atm Jelly was a Capsule song which I guess he was super proud of and loved a lot(understandably so) because there’s like 3 different versions of Jelly with Capsule I think and then there’s an additional version that was made for Kyarys cover of the song which even included and additional bridge of the song in a part that’s not in any of the Capsule versions of the song There’s also RGB by Capsule which was covered by Kyary in concert(though I don’t think Kyary ever had an official version of this with her voice released on an album or anything. The only audio of it you’ll find, comes from that concert.. to my knowledge) Dodopido was I thiiiiiink a capsule song first? Then Kyary covered it. Then Capsule released a remix version sometime after Kyarys version was released? I thiiiiink that’s the time line I might be incorrect I do like that when another one of his regular artists cover an existing song of his, he makes a new version for them instead of it being the same version(with exceptions of RGB) It’s crazy though that Perfume has never covered any of his other regulars songs(to my knowledge) 🤔 My guess would be maybe with the shift in their sound or change of producer back when Nakata first became their producer, maybe they wanted to fully rebrand and be taken seriously as a group that could stand on their own and didn’t need or want to be known for a cover so avoided them??? But even if that was the case back then, they clearly don’t shy away from covers or other artists songs now because they keep doing tv performance collaborations with other groups or artists and stuff They did a collab performance on tv with exile tribe or something and even had that live concert where Kyary and some other artists and idols were there performing their songs with them So they definitely seem like they’d be open or eager to cover something now, so I’m curious as to why that’s never happened yet 🤔 especially when there’s a lot of overlap in Nakatas music artists groups The only cover Perfume has ever done(to my knowledge) is that Jenny song but that Jenny song wasn’t a Nakata song and I don’t even think Nakata was their producer at the time they made their version of the song

I thought I was the only one who felt this way 🥲 I do enjoy the album but some of the songs do feel like… idk.. like you know when you have a craving for dessert so you get a donut but the donut doesn’t satisfy for your sweet craving quite like you wanted to. It was sweet but not the kind of sweet or flavor or sweet strength you expected and wanted so now you’re not fully satisfied and still have a craving for something more? I guess that’s how some of the songs make me feel I thought maybe it’s just because in my household, music from the era that this album takes inspo from was very… “slaps you in the face” and undeniably that sound. So I thought maybe that’s why it didn’t hit me as hard as it hit other. This is the sound I grew up with BUT like a… like a softer or lighter and very squeaky clean and sterilized version of that sound I don’t mind it or think it’s bad or unenjoyable, but some songs and some parts of other songs aren’t as enjoyable as I feel they COULD be. Like I feel like there was potential to lean into this sound even more in a stronger way I think I would’ve liked it if this album had at least like 2 harsher sounding tracks. Something like game/party maker/fake it but 80s inspired. Because songs like Game and Party maker are very “Perfume” but are a stark contrast to songs like Baby Cruisin Love or Wonder 2 which are equally very “perfume” but more mellow and calm. Something like Electro World or Polyrhythm aren’t super harsh edm sounding(game/party maker), and aren’t softer slower technopop(baby cruisin love/wonder 2), but is somewhere kinda in the middle and upbeat I think that kind of variety shows that perfume can have different things while still sounding distinctly perfume or having tracks that sound distinct from one another There’s also really sweet girly sounding songs like Plastic Smile, Seventh Heaven, Ijiwaru na Hello, The Best Thing, and Ceramic Girl which even had a great instrumental/dance break music part I don’t mind the 80s inspo on this album I just wish Nakata would’ve hit us with more variety from the 80s so tracks would sound more distinct as well as I wish he would’ve leaned into each more so the tracks could’ve hit harder and reached the peak of their potential

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who didn’t like those future pop outfits 😭 I’m not a fan of the color scheme or the design. I don’t hate the design but I’m not super crazy about it either. Not to mention it was hard to even see the design since a lot of the videos I saw them wearing it in at the time had super harsh and bright lighting or uneven lighting that casted harsh shadows on their faces and outfits which made it a little hard to even make out what was going on with their outfits at a glance I feel like some outfits I can just glance at my screen and quickly understand the concept and vibe and construction of the outfit to some extent and if it peaks my interest then I stare for longer or pause my screen to overanalyze all the beautiful and cool and creative details Those future pop outfits were one of those outfits I didn’t understand upon a single glance and had to stare at or pause my screen to try to understand what was going on with it. And once I did process what I was looking at, I wasn’t a huge fan of the color choice

I kinda love the last one 😆 it’s giving clown and gnome vibes and I’m kinda feeling it. Not a super huge fan of that pale purple with that red tough The cone hat kinda reminds me of those red outfits with the black hat they had that they performed polyrhythm in that looked like squidward in that episode where he joins a lodge with other squid people or something and then sponegbob and Patrick get a sock to scare them because they’re scared of eels or something?? While I do like the clown/gnome outfits, it does feel a little out of place for that era of perfume or like maybe the outfits would’ve been better fitting for a different idol group lol Perfume has had so many amazing outfits, but I must admit when their outfits got longer and drapey-er I did feel a little bummed Some of the long/flowy/drapey outfits in more recent years have been actually really nice looking, but some of them I feel have a little too much fabric going on to the point where it feels like they’re kinda covered in curtains 😭 I think the outfits gradually started to become longer and drapey-er maybe because they’re getting older and want to show a little less skin as skin and certain areas start to change with age?? But I think if you wanna go longer and drapey-er you can still do it in a fashionable and nice way. But put too much and it kinda becomes overwhelming and not very nice looking I’m glad they’ve started to show a little more leg recently since I feel like seeing the legs kinda contributes to their performances. I get to see their arms and legs dancing not just their arms while their legs are almost completely covered in fabric I’d be interested to see you do a video on your favs and least favs of their long/drapey outfits 😊 I think some of them have been super iconic and stunning while others feel… not as iconic and stunning

Long time no see. WelI, I have to say the album is not good. This whole 80s retro thing really hurts my ears. Now I want to make it clear that I do like 80s music. But I find the whole sound executed very poorly for this album. To put it bluntly it sounds like music that you would find in a low budget 80s film. Love cloud is the only track I really like and Ima ima ima. Thats it. Sorry to be so harsh. LOL.
