Hard to believe this is half of Blackberry Smoke. Seen and met these guys when my band was living in Atlanta and playing around there. Or manager ran the international ballroom when we were there in 92.
Rest in peace, Brit Turner. You & your brother, Richard, along with your other band mates were a huge part of the ATL music scene. #blackberrysmoke #nihilist
I grew up in atl in late 80s early 90s and i so wish i could find some complete demos. I also remeber when they played live on wrek 91.1 one night and it was awesome . Anyways anyone can help me find there demos let me k ow and thanks
We had a practice studio next to them a RTM in the 90s, when we were playing and they cranked up, it was like we were experiencing an earthquake. We were full out jamming, so you could not hear it, but you felt the energy, the walls started vibrating.
These guys killed at the masquerade, liked the grinder on steel pyrotechnics threw sparks fuckin everywhere. Wish I had this tape again. Back when Atlanta bands had some balls.
Saw them live in a little quonset hut game room on the outskirts of Huntsville, Alabama around 1989 or so. I think F.U.C.T. from Nashville was on the bill with them. Brit gave me a drumstick which I've long since lost. Great night!
I lived in atl and man do I wish I had there demos again . I seen them live numerous times . Anyways anyone that can help hit me up backzrockz1@gmail.com
first name first Me too! Man I loved the Metroplex back in the late 80s early 90s. I remember the fight that broke out. Wasn’t Rogers (AF front man) lil brother there also? I might be thinking of another time I saw AF or Nihilist at the plex.. Good fucking memories
@@mlm71keith you rule for posting this! Yes! That was the night of the crazy fight. My buddy locked his keys in the car when we got there all high then accidentally broke his window trying to get them. Had to go back to the burbs and get my car got high again then walked into that fight then the crazy shit with the kid singing the AF ...that night is a story I still tell. Thank you for posting that!!!
first name first Ha! Man that was so long ago but it seems like yesterday! I actually have a pic of his lil bro singing with AF. I never saw Motörhead there. That would’ve been awesome! I live down in Columbus and we would always find a way up there to see a killer show. The one thing I remember about that show (besides the fight) was what song AF led off with, Victim in Pain. My all time fav AF song
I loved this band. I remember opening up for them a couple of times at the Wreck Room with our band Apathy. The second time my Marshall cabinet was stolen and one of our guys got a broken rib and punctured lung in their pit. Oh the good ole days!
@@srh361 No. Our band started as Havoc and we changed it to Apathy. It was me , Steve, Zach, and Dave, There might've been someone named Sam in Apathy after I left and was playing with Inner Dimension. I can't remember what the guy's name was.. I need to see if I can dig up some old flyers.
@@tsmccullough Sam graybeal was his name and I was really good friends with the drummer from inner dimension, it's been so long I cant remember his name. I played in servent fear with doug ponder for a long time as well.

Tommy harmon that was the drummer that we hung out with at kim Zimmer and Elizabeth arrington, lee arringtons sisters place back in the day I just couldn't remember his name to save my life! Yes I played in servent fear for over ten yrs. Anyway good times back then! I always knew them as apathy with snout playing bass and singing but my memory isn't as good these days so it could have been something else.

Holy Cowhead - I just thought of these guys (was playing with a grinder) and here you lurk...I don't know about Skip, but I did run into Zack in Kennesaw of all places in the mid '00's...
We recorded at skips a lot as well ( servent fear) and skip would get a phone call every five minutes and answer it, it would piss us off so bad but he was so good it was hard to really bitch!
I took photos at so many of these gigs - Zak with the sparks! - loved the band. Used to ride MARTA on the way to GA State with them on the headphones. I think their name art was even on some grafitti on the route on the side of a building along the way.
Many great bands back in the 80s and 90s Ghost Story and Distemper, anxiety, Argon Forest, Cyanide, Reality Trip, ROT, etc and the clubs were just as amazing. Especially Ozone in Duluth, The Pit, Excelsior Mill, Visions Amphitheater off pilgrim mill rd in cumming! I remember seeing F.U.C.T from Tennessee there. As well as many other local metal bands
Damn I miss the nihilist days!! Brutal pits and great beer!!
