Welcome to the brews and boost channel! This is a collaboration between two friends and all of their nissans they build. Is your car on jack stands?! Does it even run?! Doesn't matter because this is the channnel for you! Hopefully we can get this channel to grow and become successful. Lots more content to come! I'm sure video quality and editing skills will be lacking in the beginning, but hang in there with us.

Wiring is a pain in the ass. Lookin good can’t wait to see more
Yeah the wiring has been a pain in the ass for this swap process lots of electrical diagrams 😅
That's cheating. If you're truly at TDC, everything should stay in place.
I've got the same maxima. I'd like to add a turbo. I'd love a parts you used list? Any advise?
You will need a 1986 300zx z31 turbo ecu, turbo injectors and the maf from a z31 300zx. For the exhaust manifold you stick with the stock maxima one against the firewall and then get a s12 200sx passenger side manifold and flip it upside down and put it on the drivers side aka front manifold. Then where the crossover pipe is you make it a y pipe and go to the turbo
oops, spoke too soon, the relocated sensor did not work, started stumbling and hesitating, tried two different ones, both failed. So I had to install another one in the Hell Hole. Fortunately had a special wrench to use on it, made it myself. Now working. I install a Duralast from Autozone sensor for 300zx, z31
Ear valve
I'm gonna cut the hole for pump access when I get to that point. There's a little stainless steel RV hatch in my shed that's gonna become the access panel after I make the hole and rivet hinges onto it. I replaced the level sender with one from an 87 turbo but it's either fried or the puck is seized so I'm gonna give the stupid hinged float style sender a try and see what happens. Thankfully my 86 is nearly gutted to the max so there's not much of a challenge to access anything anywhere. Nice work man
If you have a digi dash then you have to stay with a digi dash type fuel level sender. The non digi dash are different
I did the temp sensor reroute, too. Works like a charm. 95 pathfinder sensor, 300zx harness, fit perfectly, car runs far far better than before. The place on the side front left of upper block area is for a temperature switch on/off for the injector cooling fan control unit. When hot, it allows the fan to run, when cold shuts it down. My whole fan control stopped working, so I installed a bathroom windup timer switch with 1 hour limit. I use about 15 minutes to cool the engine, so it starts and runs right after being shut off and on again some minutes later, otherwise runs like crap due to bubbles in the injector rails due to ethanol in gas these days. I mounted the switch on lower left panel driver's side. This bypass to manual switch allowed me to remove the temperature switch and relocate the cylinder head temp switch to that location. Nor was that all. Mine is an 84, so has the crappy injector fan ducting that only reaches ONE SIDE of the engine. So, I cut a 1-inch hole in ducting up next to the fan and ran a plastic tube around to the right side of engine and made a tee shaped tube from copper plumbing pipe with a half inch wide cut in it along the long edge to act like a shower vent downwards into the top alongside the engine block, and plugged the open pipe ends with springy tap-in caps. Could have used corks or rubber stoppers, but these metal caps are cheap and look better. All working fine.
When i installed mine at the y pipe it read a little lean. Around 15 ish afr. But i had air intake and a plenum spacer installed already.
Anywhere from 14.7 to 15.2 is acceptable
Hey thanks for posting this kind of information about the relocation of the head temperature sensor, can you tell me if the harnesse has to be for the 95 pathfinder or does the harnesses of the z fits the new sensor just fine?
It doesn't need to be from a pathfinder if you look up jumper harness for a z31 chts they Sell a couple
Do u know what extra steps I have to do if I have the older ignition coil ?
Do you mean you have one of the cylinder style coils with one wire that goes to each side? Like a msd blaster coil?
Excellent
Sell me them tension rods off your 86
You will have to make sure that your 86 has the late style tension rods they mainly came on 87-89 300zx's but some late model 86's had it like mine
Ngl parked right by your car in Walmart and damn that’s a cool car🔥
Hell yeah thanks man!
I have this on my Z. If you think it sounds good on the video, just wait till you hear it IRL.
Ceramic coating is better isnt it? Keeps the engine bay heat down supposedly. Do feel like it was a better decision performance wise?
Ceramic coating is always a good idea when trying to keep Temps down. It just made it so header wrap wasn't as needed.
Salut tu aurais un lien pour acheter ? Merci
Lesson one on how to make your car worse than it was from the factory .................. Stupid
I saw one of your cars at my school couple days ago
I was there doing the maintenance on your bleachers and backstops that week.
Yea! Nice car
. black/w stripe is power. blue is neg to coil and pwr 2 center pin is ground right pin is to ecu. blue is also tach signal.
Your s12 videos have been super informative. Could you link that pwr-2 adapter kit? I cant seem to find it anywhere even with the part number on the bag
I will try to find it if I can. I was thinking of looking into making plug and play prw-2 connections for the s12 and selling them in the future
👌
Hey dude I want to sell my 91 Sentra but I want it to go to a good home. I wanted to see if you'd be interested. It's got new tires. I did a lil burnout video but it's good. Clean interior.
bang on the numbers for the S12 assuming its the CA18ET
It was the 87 vg30e SE edition, not the 88 with the floating wrist pins or I would have made more, but I am happy with s12 soon it will be cammed and boosted this summer
Make me not feel as bad about my z31s manifold leaking lol
She is leaking something fierce. I will have to pull the engine I'm sure because exhaust studs love to break on these cars. Hopefully it's not a manifold crack there a kinda prone to get one on the turbo side
Ok
Great video, gonna try cleaning my injectors and see if that helps with my issues. I thought I was the only one who had damn near every phillips screw on the car stripped to shit 😂 Did you ever figure out the issue?
Never got it dialed it the way I wanted before my brother sold it. But I was finally able to go full throttle by turning the boost down with a adjustable wastegate. Someday I will get another one
Just saw your RUclips channel on the back of the car
Heck yeah man where was it at 👍

I'd be more concerned about that cam chain.

@@BrewsBoost I hit them up thanks for the reply bro
Why. Why did you cut the wires and not repon them. Now you have wires of different colors connected together.
Good question short answer not everyone who watches or tries to do the mod has everything they need to do it nicely with the correct equipment. This shows the crude basic bare bones way to do this mod all my other cars that had a prw2 upgrade are done with a harness made for them.
this is a NPN transistor. it has a base, an emitter and a collector. the pinot for the stock one is 1 2 3 (1 being coil negative, 2 being ecu signal, and 3 being ground). the prw-2 has a pinout of 1 3 2, so you’re basically switching the the ground and the ecu signal wire to match up with the new prw-2.
Very good information
How old are your tires
I've had a few pairs out on since this video but she will light up 1st 2nd or 3rd just rolling no problem. Froma stop she can burn out all the way up to freeway speed 😅
What motor?
It went from a old tired D21/pathfinder motor back to my spare s12 motor. Both engines in the swap out were vg30e. Cams and heads are slightly different between the 2 variants
Turbo maxima is awesome! What ecu?
I'm running a 1986 300zx z31 turbo ecu/turbo injectors/ and 300zx maf. It all just plugs right into the maxima no issues. But you have to delete all the accessories on your intake since the iacv is wired differently from na to turbo variants
@@BrewsBoost thats soo cool, i bet the car is a lot of fun
Oh she is a blast to drive. A real sleeper in my opinion 😴
Nice work!!! Super cool man
Thank you it was a bit of work to do mostly one person.
Mine reads exactly the same as yours did before switching the sensor. Boosted 350 on e85. My tuner said it’s because of where the sensor is located. After being at idle for a while it reads so lean it doesn’t give any reading.
I've always had the AEM wideband sensor fail withing minutes of install, so far 3 times. Maybe you are right though but then again why would the orielys sensors work so well in the same position for years then 🤔. I think aem sensors are shit but the gauges are good
Did you have to buy the outer tie rods and center roll adjusters separate? Or did it come in the kit
I'm pretty sure I had to buy them all separately from techno toy tuning. Of course it would be nice if they made a kit... I know they make coilovers setups so maybe it would be included? I went with gecko instead and I really have liked them.
Will it fit if you’re catless?
I'm pretty sure they bolt right to the back of the car so I'm sure you can get a test pipe instead of a cat and run it that way.
Just the Nismo has a BOV the SL does not come witth a BOV. :(
My SL does
It depends if the model you have is turbocharged.
Hey bro this is awesome, mine's currently dying after idling for about 3 minutes and this was one of the recommended solves. Might be a stupid question but does the wahlbro 255 fuel pump work with just the stock z31?
Yes it will work just fine. But I would look into doing what they call a fuel pump relay mod since the ecu controls the ground wire and the positive wire is always charged. I am going to a relay mod differently here this spring.
Did you ever get those screens cleaned?
My brother gave up on the starion unfortunately. It over heated and got vapor lock one to many times for him. I will find another one for the channel some day.
The CHTS is the most important sensor in the Z31. it tells the ECU how hot or cold the engine is so that it can map fuel and air accordingly. When these fail, the engine runs terribly. Replacing it with the harness is always a good investment. Nice looking turbo engine. 👍
It seems to me that you have a lot of wear on the piston rings, because of this oil oozes everywhere and because of this the dipstick flew out
Normally I would totally side with you on thr ring condition. But this engine was freshly put together not very long ago. And when I look up the 1g dsm they are notorious for blowing the dipstick tube out. That's why they have a company that makes upgraded dipstick tube which I now have and have not had issues since. Once you get into the 500+hp range these things have lots of blow by. In the nissan world that mean you need to rebuild it for sure but I guess with these thats "normal" procedure
The dsm gas pump turns on when you start to turn the starter, it does not turn on when ignition...
Did you have to use a shorter belt then the original?
No same belt but that alternator burned out after like 2 months so I went back to the original
Oh wow, was that the high output one from concept z performance?@@BrewsBoost
@michaelasselta3101 yeah it was. Idk why it went out so quickly it could have just been a defect
Thanks for the response @@BrewsBoost
@@BrewsBoostbecause you didn’t also add a thicker gauge ground wire.
Thanks ... I did plugs years ago and forgot most of what you showed ... the z31 spark plug tool is actually useful !
Where did you pop the Air fuel sensor?
My car has always wanted to overheat with on long steep hills in first gear. I think it’s how the rads set up. You running to fans? Found anyway to make a ram air for it?
I replaced the cx-racing intercooler/radiator with a front mount intercooler and champion radiator. Works great now
shouldn't you replace the tensioner, spring and stud when you do the belt?
Of course you should. Once the belt is on you can slide a zip tie around the two sides of the belt where the tensioner goes tighten them up and then take the tensioner off and replace it without loosing the belt tension or sliding off a tooth.
