You should check out Starsector -- it's the same genre of ARPG 2D space combat as StarCom, but with far more depth. A decades long passion project by the developers. Unfortunately it's not on Steam, but it's well worth a look.

Unfortunately, Commander... I was out by Colonia, maybe 3kly off away from the core and I freaked out finding a similar site as this one. I guess they just have a rand% chance to spawn on planets in systems with ammonia planets. So, the goids are literally EVERYWHERE. They've definitely scouted near the whole galaxy for possible ammonia planets to claim.

I have odyssey. How do you get that mini arrow pointing to a locked target? Hate flying to systems and having to search around for where I need to head. That seems so helpful!

In terra invicta you need to be 'building' for the next stage of the game. When you start the game you want to be playing for powerhouses - US -Europe -China -Brazil/India -Russia Kazakhstan. you can do collections of poor states in low difficulty level, but you need to take a small country that you can force into nothing but boost and mission control. You should ALWAYS make sure you're in control of one of the techs in the global research. That means you can direct research in a critical area. The NPCs don't direct research well. You don't need to do heavy diplomacy with other factions in the early game. It's best to avoid them until about 2026. You should be focused in the early game on taking a powerhouse. If you go for the US you should take mexico and canada. etc. EU you need france. It takes time to really get it down pat.

I started a semi circumnavigation of the galaxy in August of 2021 and finally made it back to the bubble in May 2022. Almost 8000 systems visited and 3 billion credits later I can say it was some of the most fun I've had in a game. Congrats on your journey o7

Would be nice to have more options for this career path, such as a dedicated SRV for exploration with bio scanner and all, having to take actual samples from the plant thing, having internal modules for maintaining extraterrestrial life, modules for doing extra detailed analysis on biological matter to discover specific traits and then having X economies pay out more for traits advantageous to them.
