And what happens if someone makes a commit on server branch "revision one", server branch is *forcefully* updated, and whatever progress the team made on top of "revision one" of server branch is lost?
I wish your terminal prompt displayed the current "git branch"' It would have made it much easier for us to follow along with the command and understand the branch transitions better.
aff, Pranathi. 😍😍
This is really great analysis! It's clear that the stacking workflow has tons of advantages over vanilla github feature-branching model, with little downside after adoption and a culture shift. We'd love to be using these tools at my company (FAANG, little investment in developer tools, I'm sure you know...) but we're unable to incorporate AGPL-3 licensed software under any circumstances. I hope you can find a way to make this product available for us. I'd imagine an enterprise account with huge user adoption occurring relatively quickly.
I'm using graphite, shit works gooooooood. glad i'm here from the start.
So, the purpose of this tool just to keep your repository a straight line...? What can be seen from this is that it's mostly automating rebasing recursively.
That was so much info packed in 6minutes lol. Is the stash considered part of git's storage system?
Split in a nice gui that lets you see/select select side by side hunks would be dope
Bro had too much coffee this morning
he's just so hyped on stacking 😎
You just made it more confusing that ever before.

Can i use graphite to manage my public PR's onto a project that is not using graphite?
I appreciate how hard to make an explanation video, "I'll go ahead" and not say what I was going to say
`gt repo init` was removed. guys please use `gt init` instead
Hello, and thanks for this short intro to the Graphite CLI tool. In the video, it is said that we have to do rebasing manually when some new changes appear in the middle of the stack. We're forced to repeat this action for all the upstream branches. But, in general, is rebasing the only way? Can we go with merging, instead?
This just sounds like you're describing commits...
Goddamn the animation and editing team has done a phenomenal job
1000 pr’s, 10 at a time
lol, macros (memes) is what ex-Facebook engineers miss most from Phabricator (16:36) - That's absolutely true. Miss it every day. Regardless - great job Graphite! This looks amazing.
Nice eyecandy, but what does it actually do??
Thanks for Graphite How to know what vanilla git command executed when using graphite CLI? graphite: gt sync vanilla git command: ?
why not start with actually creating a first stack?
Awesome video!
I need to say that, I have never seen so polished video of any dev-tool. Great presentation skill and workflow to complement it.
Will you ever let users use Graphite on their personal repos, without being part of an organisation?
We're considering it now actually! Will keep you updated if/when that changes :)
@@KennyDuMezI would definitely switch over to Graphite whenever this happens.
Came from Theo’s video. Stayed cause of the kick ass software and workflow. Good video as well 👌
Thanks Yiannis!!! You can get started here graphite.dev/docs/get-started
i came here from theo
Welcome!!
This blew my mind.
Great visuals
Thanks Sasha! The video team really killed it 💪😤
Cool video but nothing special except for the stacking pr thing that's cool
Yeah stacking is kinda the main part of everything we do! Stacked PRs used to be only for the biggest top tech companies that had millions to spend on internal tooling. Now with Graphite, anyone can start stacking for free!
Goddaam i never comment on these type of videos but your graphics/media team deserves a raise
Hey thanks so much! They really did do a phenomenal job 😎
