I'm British, and I enjoyed this show as a kid, and I always felt sorry for Henry for being told off by his parents, especially the mother, more so when she tells him "You can have your tea in the morning" meaning he had to go 12+ hours hungry, I've experienced going to my room without food a couple times, not good because you do struggle sleeping when starving. I actually don't think Henry is horrid, as in one episode, Peter and Henry are looking in a photo album, and you see that Henry was actually loved by his parents as he was happy in the photos but it was when Peter was born that the love and attention went from Henry to Peter, which is why Henry is always called Horrid because he's trying to get the love and attention that he once had as a toddler. Plus, I hated that even if Henry hadn't done any horrid stuff, Simon and Mum would tell him to not be horrid, like the start of one episode, Henry enters the kitchen, Peter says morning to Henry, which Henry replies morning back only for their mum to say "Don't be horrid Henry", I was like "Lady, he just said good morning politely, don't need to call him horrid for no reason", what if one day he end in a coma or hit by a car, isn't of feeling sad for him, she'll tell him to not be horrid or she'll be happy, as shown in the episode where a clown says he'll nake Henry disappear, which she sounded happy which she got bad looks from Moody Margaret and Rude Ralph

i only realised after editing, in the second episode i talk about "fear of a krabby patty" i referenced and showed clips from the episode "graveyard shift". this is because i wrote the script from memory and got the 2 episodes mixed up. i could've fixed my mistake but tbh i cba by the time i realised so you get this half ahh apology instead. i'll do better research next time lol

There’s a psychology that explains the reason for Henry’s behavior. He’s not a bad kid infact he loves Peter but he has a huge amount of jealousy because of Peter’s nature that makes everyone love him. Peter doesn’t make anyone angry or upset he is the perfect child every parents want. Henry’s mom was not a good mother to him unlike his dad who never saw Henry as a bad person, he knew he acts horrid but deep inside his father knew well Henry is also a good person. Henry’s horrid behavior started from his home when Peter was born where all the attention he had went to Peter, Soon his jealousy overcame him and he became rude to Peter which later became a daily routine. It wasn’t because he liked being mean it was because of the attention he’s gotten from it. The attention his parents didn’t want to give. Parents can make their children good people if given enough attention but Henry was so horrid that they gave up on him. Also a disturbing episode where a clown was about to make Henry disappear and his mom started cheering loudly while no one in the room cheered not even Peter, you could tell from that moment just how horrible of a mother she was because all of her love was for Peter and none for Henry. The show makes a deep dive in the psychology of older sibilings and the show portrays it really well, the only issue is we were too young to understand.

I think Henry should run away from home, because his family don’t really love him at all!

I live in the US, and I found out about this show thanks to Hulu. (well me and my cousins at least) And let's just say that even as a young girl I found Peter and the mom kinda annoying and now it all makes sense.

I occasionally saw an episode of this as a teenager, and he rarely seemed to be pointlessly vindictive. Punishments that aren't resulting in changing behavior are just done for the feeling it gives the adult, not to correct the behaviour of the child

An example of this could be perfect Peter he tries everything to be perfect but some don’t even see him in that way which he tries to change like being naughty 😈 which that doesn’t work which he turns back & stays as his label. Same applies for everyone else like silly Simon acting random and crazy 🤪 same goes to Henry being named horrid and acting horrid due to his parents continuing label for Henry 😅
