It’s really about learning what the notation is. Also, you gotta recognize what people are good at doing and what they’re not good at. If you’re writing for your school for example, it’d be better to personalize each part for the person; speeds up the learning process. Writing good stuff comes with time. Look at rudiments! Use them instead of just doing basic stuff like singles. Makes the music a lot more enjoyable for the players as well. Dynamics are super important too and can make or break a song. There’s a million RUclips videos you can look up as well that help with writing percussion. The important thing is that you know what you’re writing for. It could be battery, drumline, percussion ensemble, etc.
