Hey Bill, Very good video and helpful. Your finished product looks great! I was wondering if you could shed more light on the specific brand of furnace filter material you are using. Home Depot in our area only has fiberglass filter material, and I think you mentioned that the material you use is a natural fiber (14:57). Are you using Hog Hair filter material perhaps? We tried using Scotch-Brite scouring pads (Industrial Strength); the only thing we could find that seemed close, and it worked OK, but those are no fun to pull apart into thin layers. This seems to be the key part of great looking trees so we'd like to get it right. Thanks!

It’s called NaturalAire. I haven’t checked Home Depot in a while but I see online that places like Ace Hardware and others carry it. It works perfect for these trees 😃

Along the way, I've heard that seafoam branches can be sprayed with a little glycerin ... maybe diluted a bit ... to keep them pliable. Currently, I have seafoam seedlings ready for transplanting into larger deck pots to grow during the summer into fall. My first experiment with growing them! Ever hear about the glycerin? Seems your diluted white glue worked well. Cheers ...

Dear Bill, very cool you’re doing a tree building clinic for this NMRA meet. Very much like the approach you’re taking, with the line of trees in different phases and a bunch of prepped wire armatures for folks to make some tree building attempts! Sort of doesn’t surprise me that painting the armatures first and then slathering ‘m in Mod Podge and ground cover, works better. Might be that an acrylic works best. However, any paint cover of the florist wire with its rope will create a better bite for the Mod Podge. With the Mod Podge added before painting, the rope may just suck out the moisture of the glue to quickly. The paint first will fill up the pores to prevent such. You might even be able to use a cheapo dispersion primer. On the running action of the Mod Podge, it just sticks much better to especially acrylic surfaces. Cheerio

Novel idea...why not show us how to make trees! You talk around it, but never hands on how you make your trees. It's frustrating to the new modeler when you and others never show exactly how you make something on camera by doing it.
