For riding in dusty conditions, particularly in a group, I fit the Unfilter pre-filter from the Honda CRF300L (Unifilter pn AU 4138 PC) to my BMW G310GS. I wanted to make a video showing that the pre-filter can be installed without any tools, making it a viable option for changing it during multi-day adventure rides. A quick upload as requested of using the Silver Fox Home One map controller on the fly. It took a few minutes to get used to using the index finger controller layout while riding, but it's great after a little practice. I can't fault it so far, and is an ideal pairing with the tablet and DMD2.

    Hi, thank you for this interesting video. Tell me if you have to associate in bluetooth, the controller to your device each time you power on your bike ? And does the controller remember the key mode configured at the power of, at the next power on ? Because I have this controller too and I have to associate it to my device in bluetooth and change the key mode to F1 (by pressing + and - buttons together) at each power on of my bike (starts allways in F2 mode). Thank you for your answers. My device is a Blackview BV9200 in Android 12. Otherwise, this controller is really great !

      @adthar9340 6 дней назад

      @patrickpsaume2425 thanks for the comment. Regarding the Bluetooth connection, no, I don't need to pair the controller each time... it's actually amazingly fast to connect to the tablet each time I turn it on. And while I can't remember if I'm in f1 or f2, I never need to change anything. My only suggestion is to make sure you're using the latest firmware for the controller.

    • @adthar9340
      @adthar9340 7 дней назад

      @ajayn7153 do you mean the handguards? They are the Oxford Premium handguards/lever protectors. They are great if you are having clearance issues on the G310GS at full steering lock after changing the bars/risers. Barkbusters are definitely stronger, but they simply wouldn't fit with my handlebar/riser combo. The Oxford Handguards have proven fairly strong, surviving a few crashes.

    Hi, I'm a long term Storm Bee (3 years) and now an Ultra Bee (2 years) owner. I'm trying to find replacement front disk pads for the Storm Bee. The originals work but they got a bit contaminated by a fork oil leak. So they lack the power they should have but not dangerously so. I ordered some front disk pads from China but they sent me the Ultra Bee ones instead. Not a disaster because I can eventually use them on my Ultra Bee. But I still need the Storm Bee pads sooner or later. Any thoughts on a supplier? Greetings from a Brit in Mongolia. We live in the mountains so the Bees are excellent for blasting around the common land next to our yurt camp.

      Works fairly well. The protection ends at around eye height...but it's better than when I had the powerbronze screen on the kijima mount. The mini fairing allows some adjustment of the screen position, which gives it the edge over my previous set ups. I am also quite tall...so I would need to go higher to get my helmet clear of the wind...but I don't feel I really need to.

    • @adthar9340
      @adthar9340 9 месяцев назад

      You can definitely just do this same thing with the oem bolt and carry an Allen key. As I often flip the sensor depending on riding conditions, I just opted for a quick release style fastener. Just be aware that when you first flip the sensor it takes a few minutes of riding for the abs to finish its diagnostic mode (abs light flashes), during which you will have no speedometer or front abs. Once the abs light stops flashing and stays illuminated, you will have your speedometer back and front abs. Every time you turn off the ignition, this will process will repeat. So if I can, I leave the ignition on and shut the bike down with the kill switch. Obviously this is only good for short stops.

Combination of fire roads, technical climbs and single track. My longest distance was a combination of country backroads and dirts roads. @@adthar9340 damn, i really want to get one! really impressive looking electric bike (and of what's available was my pick from what i've researched) and was seriously considering getting one but i simply need much more range like twice that minimum (particularly for the idea of also using it as a high speed commute vehicle where i can't charge it at the destination). I'd buy a spare battery to swap and charge for weekend riding no worries. just not viable when you're not riding in a loop or return trips (or too far for return). i'm really looking forward to future battery technology breakthroughs. guess i'll have to stick with ICE's a bit longer until then or my circumstances change. thanks a lot for this information! it's a bit hard to find good information (that's not excessively optimistic) about highway / high speed travel range tests for this model. i really appreciate the data. also great job with the videos and working together with the community weeding out issues and finding good mods!

      @KILLERCHIEF realistically the best use case for this bike is why I bought mine...I wanted something quiet for cutting laps in my backyard. Being road registered, it's then great for running errands and the like. I also now have an ICE adventure bike for the all day rides... the thing is, I just wish it was as quiet as the electric. There's definitely something to be said for minimal noise when off road. Let's hope we soon have batteries that can give us the best of both worlds!

I only use high pressure on the fenders and similar parts. Then I just use normal hose pressure most other places and avoid blasting anything that looks electronic. If it's not too grubby I leave it all assembled.

    How do you get the white cover over the coolant bottle? It has two black rivet looking things. Do they just pull out? What coolant did you use? Is it standard engine coolant?

    • @adthar9340

      For coolant the manual states to use an ethylene glycol coolant...I used a regular automotive ethylene glycol coolant from Penrite. Hope that helps!

      Hi Francisco, the white panels are held in place worth a cable tie and the two black plastic expanding rivets. For the expanding rivets you will notice raised circle in the centre... you can use a small flat blade screw driver to pry that centre piece out a little. This then allows the whole rivet to be removed. If you google "plastic expanding rivet" you will see what I mean. Hope that helps!

    Hey man I have a couple questions about the srruon’s what is a recommended height and weight to ride one I don’t know if you’ve ridden all three bikes but I was just wondering because I’m thinking about getting a surron ultra bee, and what does regen do to the bike?

    • @adthar9340
      @adthar9340 Год назад

      Hi Chupapi, I have only ridden the Light Bee and the Storm Bee...i havent had a chance to ride an ultra bee yet. But between the LB and the SB, the SB was the only option really as I am about 186cm tall. Check out this review between all three if you haven't seen it already: ruclips.net/video/mhhW42s-CY0/видео.html As for the regenerative braking...when activated by either the brake levers or coasting, the motor becomes like a generator and sends power back into the battery. In theory it increases efficiency, but in reality it mainly creates adjustable braking power and engine braking forces.

    8 acres is a nice spread and I totally get the desire to keep the noise down. My situation is similar but different. We have a yurt camp (3 yurts and growing) on only own 2 acres but there's heaps of common land around us with no limits except courtesy. We could've bought more but there wasn't much point. As far as riding, as long as you don't go on other people's fenced property, you can ride or drive anywhere. Our back and side yards are open to common land, although it's a steep, rocky hillside but it's still rideable. I can attempt even trickier ascents now I have the Ultra Bee. There's only one neighbouring family who live nearby year round but mostly the few properties near us (600m away) are summer and weekend houses/yurts. My main desire to be quiet is to not disturb the herds which roam freely on the common land. There are cattle, yaks, sheep/goats and horses that graze near us. I can ride around them without startling them on my Storm Bee. On a 2-stroke in particular, I'd probably spook them and be heard across the huge valley. No thanks. There was a motocross race meet last summer and you could hear the cacophony at our place, 6km away. I believe I saw that you're in NSW, right? I have relatives in Wollongong and visited twice, doing some travel to every major settlement from Cairns to Melbourne. I was especially impressed with Wollongong. I love mountains cascading down to the coast. Compared to that, we have the mountains but Mongolia is landlocked but very, very sparsely populated which is fine by me. We have all the peace and quiet we could wish for. Sometimes too much.

    Great video. I bought an early second-hand version of the Storm Bee (probably a prototype) late 2021. 90v like yours. No user manual or anything. So I had to take it to the dealer for service. I'd like to do it myself because my dealer is in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and I'm 32km from there in the mountains. It's had 1 service so far and the odometer reads 3000km now, 1000km are mine. It was pretty neglected by the previous owner but runs well now. I'll push the dealer for a manual because Surron China won't deal with me directly. Love the bike but it had some overheating issues after long, steep climbs off-road. 95% of my riding is off-road. I just ordered an Ultra Bee to complement my Storm Bee. The Ultra Bee will probably be more comfortable for me attempting steep, narrow technical ascents. As I said, my home is in the mountains on a hillside. You can ride anywhere essentially, except the few fenced yards. It's off-road heaven except the winter is harsh. We don't have to deal with heat waves. More like cold waves.

    • @adthar9340
      @adthar9340 Год назад

      Sounds like you live in an off-road paradise! If it helps, here is a link to an owners manual ampdbros.com.au/pages/tutorials-manuals-assembly It's probably not as detailed as you'd like, but it's what my Storm Bee came with. Baring any actual technical faults, the routine servicing seems fairly straightforward. What I am hoping we all eventually learn is where there is parts compatibility with mainstream brands for consumables like brake pads and fork seals etc. I am sure there will be a lot of cloned parts on these things. I will hopefully have another video soon showing installation of a skid plate and the modifications I have made to tidy up the bird nest behind the stock skid plate. My videos won't be super entertaining, but hopefully informative.

      @@adthar9340 Wow, thanks! The user manual will be incredibly helpful. I don't know enough about my Storm Bee. I haven't modified it much at all. I just added some KTM full-wrap handguards because they previous owner had already broken off the balls of the brake levers and one rear indicator was gaffer taped on. Those are vulnerable parts. The KTM handguards work well but I needed to drill slightly larger holes in the handlebar ends to accommodate them. The Storm Bee has really thick gauge metal handlebars so there's plenty of strength still. I ground the brake levers smooth until I can get replacements in Spring, according to my dealer. I should probably adjust the suspension because it's a bit soft but it's NEVER bottomed out so it's not an emergency. My front brake has lost most of its power. Although the pads have plenty of wear. I told my dealer but they said the front brake is fine. It is not. Any tips? I could flush and change the fluid and try to find pads.

    • @adthar9340
      @adthar9340 Год назад

      @Martin Foster happy to help. I think i read your posts on reddit and decided very early only to get some full wrap guards. They have definitely saved my levers after multiple tip overs. There are aftermarket brake levers advertised online m.aliexpress.com/item/1005004919740574.html I can't vouch for the levers themselves, but I recently purchased my skid plate from the same seller and it was a good transaction. Could save you some time if didn't want to wait for sur ron parts. Regarding brake performance, and if the bike hasn't had much in the way of servicing, I would definitely be looking at the brake fluid. It's probably not the best quality fluid to begin with...and after a few years it's unlikely to be in good shape.

      @martinfoster5163 Год назад

      @@adthar9340 Very helpful! Yes, I think I can order easily from Aliexpress. It won't be the first time. I was talking to somebody about neoprene socks to keep contaminants out of the fork seals. Was that you? I'm going to try installing some because leaky front forks contaminated the brake pads too but I cleaned them up. Still no power but it might be related to the fact I can only use 2-fingers on the shortened/damaged levers. I'll try flushing out the brake lines too. You're a wealth of information. Thanks so much. I just picked up my Ultra Bee. I like it a lot but I still love my Storm Bee. I just think the Ultra Bee will be more confidence inspring up my steep, technical trails in my area.

    • @adthar9340
      @adthar9340 Год назад

      @Martin Foster I don't think it was me about the neoprene, but pad contamination definitely won't be helping. I am one-finger braking on my Storm Bee...so you should definitely be able to get more power by the sounds of it. Pads and fluid might be needed...and be sure to thoroughly clean the rotors. How much brake regen do you run? On loose surfaces I am at 2...on tarmac I crank up the brake regen and turn off the motor regen to try and maximise efficiency of the bike. The Ultra Bee sounds great. I think if it was in the line up when I bought the Storm Bee it would've been a difficult choice. The size difference between the Storm Bee and the light bee made it an easy choice at the time.

      Couldn't agree more on sharing what we learn about these bikes. There isn't a huge amount of info out there at this stage. @@adthar9340 The coolant system seems interesting. Im told 'its normal for it to leak'. I can understand some coolant finding its way through the cap when it is at 100%, the issue i have is i clean wiping coolant every ride, i now can see coolant level in the reservoir at 50% and I'm still cleaning off wearing coolant. After attempting to taking a close look, I failed to locate where is it coming from. Does any know at what temperature the MCU requires the system to start cooling? So far on my bike i have only see the temp between 1-3 bars. On another topic, has anyone had any drama with their brakes?

      Hi Paul, Thanks for comments. I think it's useful for us owners to share as much a possible about these bikes in the absence of a comprehensive dealer network. I ended up using Penrite 10W40 MCGO... presumably that just stands for motorcycle gear oil. I had seen other recommendations for the 85w-90 as well, but my user manual says 10w40. The dealer here also indicated 10w40. Hard to know for sure which is correct... but either is probably better than what is supplied. The best thing I have found so far regarding parts diagrams are those found here surronelectricbikes.co.uk/parts/# Just scroll down to the Storm Bee section. No part numbers are provided, of course ha! But a parts catalogue at least must exist. You see the layout of the cooling system in the "radiator" section. Next time I have the bike apart I will try and get more photos and video, but the diagram really helps see what's going on. Cheers!
