Some great additional talking points here man, thanks for making this video response and throwing it back to the old days of RUclips. I totally agree about expensive games on the second hand market like Devil's Third. There's a handful of games on my list in the hundred plus range that I'd like to own one day, but like you I just have such a hard time pulling the trigger on. Also, totally in the same boat when it comes to a room tour; it's kinda cobbled together in the current space and isn't really fully presentable in the way I'd like. Congrats on the new home! Hopefully you'll get to set things up nicely in the new space.

Hard to argue about 2017. '22 and '23 were great though.

2023 is my personal favorite year for the switch. mario wonder, tears of the kingdom, fire emblem engage, pikmin 4, super mario rpg remake, metroid prime remastered, etc is just such a stacked lineup for being late in the switch's life

it really depends on what games you like, like this year may not be the best to someone hoping for a kirby game, but may be the best year for someone wanting mario rpgs to come back. if someone is feeling nostalgic they could say 2017 or 18 was the best year, we got so many classics those years that still hold up today!

2017 definitely was a banger, new console, three big games. The Switch is a solid platform with tons of games. 2023 was big for Zelda and even this year is a surprise. I think the Switch still has a lot of time to shine before it’s successor and Nintendo know this. Sure, many people want the new console but I believe there are just as many, if not more, who are still very happy with the Switch and still growing library… another new top down Zelda as Zelda, returns of fan classics, etc…

When in doubt, always Dragon Quest. I do a yearly goal amount of games to beat, that I have never beaten before. Once I beat those, I go to my defaults to enjoy them again. It gives me joy and new experiences.

You have the New Super Mario Bros. franchise slightly backward. New Super Mario Bros. on DS was the first one. The Wii version is a spinoff of the DS game, not the other way around.

A very good video. If i have any notes, is to maybe add more energy..? Not to say that you dont have an energy, a good one at that, but there are a lot of moments that probably should have had empty space cut regarding audio, just silent or awkward kinda vibe. Theres some serious potential here, keep it up! But try cutting down some of those silences. Love the videos!

I could imagine a Rainbow Curse remake having a bonus adventure for traditional controls. Like touch the screen for Kirby Press start for Meta Knight or whatever.

why are you so underrated

My local Walmart took half the games out of the case in the Switch aisle maybe 2 or 3 months ago. And then they took out another 1/3rd of what was left, and none of them showed up on the “cheap” or clearance racks with the ps4 and xbone games. So they took away like allll those games, but the spaces where the games were are still there, just empty. It’s super weird

I think you are right, Nintendo won’t re-release titles as ‘Selects’, they don’t really have reason to… but if I were to choose five, they would be: Mario Cart 8 Deluxe, Mario Odyssey, BOTW, Animal Crossing NH and of course, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

E-shop sale would be easier for them rather than printing new cases and cartridges

I need a switch remake for OoT and MM 3D. The updated graphics and QOL improvements would be amazing on a big screen. They did it for Luigi’s Mansion 2 so it’s possible

Switch has 2-3 more years of support. Even if it smaller stuff. 3ds had 2 full years of support in switch era. Kriby epic yarn came to 3ds in 2019 march. Wii ware had smash n64 i got it. Install base of switch almost twice 3ds. Also Nintendo need games keep switch online subscribers everyone not buying switch 2 day 1. Paper mario 64 is on switch online.

Star Fox Zero is an interesting game in that you Technically can port it over without that second screen. When i first played it I used what was called the "off" option which is more of an "Auto recalibration" option and played strictly with the TV and only ever died a couple of times. Any time where it needed me to us the second screen I pressed the minus button to see where i was going or aiming. So what they would do if they ever wanted to port it, they just need to rework the moment where they forced the Z targeting, rework the tutorial section to teach the player the value of the Minus button, and set the "Auto Calibration" as the default. It was more of a second screen issue rather then a motion control issue. All of that said, I still wouldn't want it to be ported. Its has too much of a bad rep and it would still have motion controls. At minimum a remake of Star Fox Assault from the gamecube is the best option.

I had a Wii U back then but I regretted selling it, bought it back this year with a ton of games. Switch doesn't have the same magic for me and I don't know why!

I think after the upcoming Zelda game (that's _actually_ a Zelda game, lol) that'll probably be it on the Switch. Which isn't too bad. We got Botw, TotK (neither are my favorites), Link's Awakening reimagining, Skyward Sword remake, and now Echoes of Wisdom. That's a good amount of Zelda games. But it _is_ odd how Nintendo will almost certainly fail to capitalize here. Wind Waker and Twilight Princess Wii-U remakes just getting re-released would be _easy_ money for them. And would also make for a lot of happy fans. But there's a new console on the horizon. Almost certainly not something as sensible as a Switch 2 (just more powerful with some quality of life improvements, better screen, better storage and fixed control sticks). Unless Nintendo stops being Nintendo, they'll release something completely different that might be another Wii-U debacle. Hopefully it's not, and instead something awesome. But either way, it's pretty likely they're saving stuff for _that_ console -- though equally likely they still won't do the easy and smart thing of just rereleasing much demanded games. I think Metroid Prime 4 might be the last big release they have for the Switch, and that's only because there'd be a lot of anger if that game was pushed back to another console (though it may be a dual release). Ocarina of Time, I think, is also very unlikely to be spotted again any time soon. I'd love to be wrong and get a really thorough re-imagining of that game. The 3DS remake of it was fine, but more could have been done. And seeing what they did with Link's Awakening, I'd love to see that approach taken even further with a diorama style re-do of the original game, or maybe even Zelda II.
