I've seen enough of the third world videos with guys with sandals squatting to remove the labels and caps. Yes, it's labour intensive. But not for the US of A.

Absolutely never require consumers to separate the caps and labels from the bottles. Period. Either have the manufacturers use the same plastic, create machines that can separate the different shreds or hire the unemployed to separate before shredding. I'm a big recycler of everything within my household but I say "NO" to separating these plastics.

Pyrolysis is great and all, but Thermal depolymerization has better energy efficiency and produces higher-quality oils compared to pyrolysis due to the lower temperatures and the catalytic effect of water. Personally I think TDP should be looked at more closely as it can power itself off of the gasses produced once the system is running, and then with carbon capture tech, the CO2 from the energy generation can be captured and recycled as well.

This is total BS. Go back to first principles. Why would EV’s wear out their tires several times faster than a gas car? There is no physics to back this.

I'm always skeptical of any new technology as soon as it can't replace an existing technology directly. Ok... eVTOL. Use an electrically powered motor to control propellers for life. Excellent, so why do these things have to be ultralight, multi-bladed, one-person contraptions vs. just replacing the aviation fuel powered engines on normal helicopters? The simple fact is that they can't replace existing helicopter engines. They don't have enough energy density per per unit of volume or mass as aviation fuel. They barely work in tiny, ultralight vehicles designed for one or two people -- and even then at the cost of reduced speed, power, and range. Most can barely make it 15 to 30 minutes of flying time. Multi-rotors, winglets, light-weight materials, awkward layouts, highly areo-dynamic bodies, etc. are all need just to get to those levels. As soon as scale it up for lift a half-dozen people, lift thousands of pounds, be stable enough for add a winch, lift a rugged body, flying into averse weather, etc. you'd need so many batteries that the thing would never got off the ground. I would also doubt their reliability or low maintenance if these were scaled to the point they could lift a car, carry a medial team, reach 150 kmph, or hover in a ranging storm next to a cliff. The motors, rotor systems, batteries, etc. would all need to be incredibly rugged.

Sounds like some of the most expensive hydrogen on the planet. I'm sure that it will not be economical.

I really like the concept of these modular recyclers. How do you, or the people who buy them, monetize these? This is mixed plastic materials that usually ends up in landfills, right? Also, you should totally put your site URL on your About page of the RUclips channel, and your video descriptions!

I am fascinated by this. I read the paper, and the output products do indeed seem more valuable than pyrolysis oil. Though your points are good: how valuable are the products truly? Are detergents and other products formed from this process safe? For instance, what's the benzene content after fractional distillation of the output streams? How does it compare to things like benzene-based surfactants, which are presently used in detergents, including laundry detergents? I see real potential, but I don't know enough about the chemistry of existing material inputs to the products/producers they would be competing with to see if the economics actually make sense. I also imagine a large scale producer would be required to get the efficiencies of scale, reliability in the products formed, supply contracts with product manufacturers, etc. to make the most of this technology. Would love to get more of your insights on this. I'm just a software developer with a little organic chemistry background, so this is not my area of expertise. But it's super interesting.

Let me first begin with the caveat, he has WAY more experience than me lol. The issue I have with the landfills is the footprint, timeframe and infrastructure. I have one near my home that uses some of the garbage in an incinerator. If done properly they are our best solution. A Sierra Energy 100 MT/day facility needs about a 10 acre foot print. Also I don't believe gasification is going to displace landfills anytime in the near future. I actually think they would work together well. With syngas, it doesn't need to be burned. It can be separated into the base components. And the hydrogen can be recirculated and combined with 02 to run the burner so the exhaust would be water which could be recollected and hydrolyzed using renewables. Just came across a really interesting tech, Eavor Technologies, geo thermal anywhere.

I wonder if the technology can be paired with a carbon capture solution like Carbon Engineering which could convert the remaining exhaust back into fuel.

HBOs main uplink facility to satellites uses diesel. In fact if the world ended tomorrow HBO would still be available for a week.

What are your thoughts on Plastic Gasification? Mainly with Sierra Energy Fast Ox Gasification.
