The Control room tells the Bus Drivers to Terminate/Curtail early at certain points, to regulate the services going in the opposite direction. Otherwise there wouldn't be a service at all. Yh it’s a good bus but certain connections are bad, for example the 169 and el bus always gets packed from Ilford as people are tryna go to places in Ilford lane, it would be nice if they added a stop in Ilford lane to alleviate congestion from those 2 buses, not only that this bus is a big step for connecting east and south east London as it’s now easier to travel from south east London to further parts of east London with a bus direct from Woolwich to Ilford( foot tunnel)
