INK SPOTS I DON’T WANNA SET THE WORLD IN FIRE 78rpm
Dude... You're lucky!
these gramophones can only play 78s, not 45s or others!!!
When the day comes we will remember this
What cartridge did you use? It sounds really good.
Dang you're right, that does sound a lot better! It's unfortunate how poorly those newfangled stock Chinese ceramic cartridges track...spoils the experience when it comes to cheap record players. Good thing many of the old BSR cartridges have the same clip-on mount though.
1:08 Sounds a little bit like Artificial Intelligence or Cyantific DnB track.
The grooves of modern records are narrower and smaller, and the needle of old players is very thick, the weight that this needle exerts on the record is also very strong,For these reasons, For this reason, playback will always repeat the same groove track on the disc. And the weight will also ruin it.
I think the Columbia "flag" label of the 1920s was the most gorgeous label they ever had. It is the Columbia equivalent to the beautiful Victor "scroll" label, especially on their Red Seal records, used from 1926 until 1937.
Hello, how did you make the stand?
I actually got a modern record to play on my Victor 8 phonograph. I got a somewhat modern stylus and fit it into the needle connector in the reproducer. Had to be slightly bent to ride the grooves. Then rigged up a rod on the reproducer with counterweights to lighten the weight of the reproducer / needle on the record. It played. I can't say it didn't skip a couple of times, it did but it did play without damaging the record. Didn't sound great though. What record did I use? A 12 inch single of Anita Ward "Ring My Bell" as seen in the movie Book Of Eli. Just had to do it. My phonograph has a pitch control where I can go above 78 RPM and lower than 16 RPM. Also in experimenting with this phonograph, I got it to record on a blank compact disc by attaching a speaker to the reproducer and had to hold the reproducer as it cut thru the cd with the music playing to try to keep an even cut groove. Didn't sound great, but was clear enough that the reproducer took the vibration of the speaker playing the music and cut that vibration into the cd.
The good side of RUclips
your house is my dream house especially because is see at least 3 phonographs in the background lol
wow that sounds amazing i hope mine will sound this good if the motor is fixed :0
I'm currently looking for this record too 😅
That's amazing❤
Give me a disk recorder and I will fill the world with fire beats
Super cool!!! Thanks for sharing! ❤
I always think of fallout 3 whenever I hear this
War….war never changes…
yk whats crazy, im getting nostalgia from this song cuz of fallout gaming in the past when I was a kid, what media does for old songs is amazing, this is almost 70+ years out of my generation but I love it so damn much
It's absurd to put a disc on a gramophone that's not in the right format. Start with a 78 rpm disc, then it'll work. It's not a problem of recording era. You could very well record today's music on a 78 rpm disc.
*Immediately starts up Fallout 4 upon hearing this*
thats so cool man! defiantly one of those thing when people come over you can say " hey come check this out."
Sounds good
Absolutely incredible. I could almost weep. Imagine that at one time that was high tech. I wish that I could go back. Fantastic. Thank you for filming and sharing.
That poor record !😮
Great gramophone and music 😍
Very nice Gramophone nice and loud crisp 👌 🍷🔥
Beautiful Edison Triumph love da horn and a fantastic cylinder I love it 😀 👍🍻
I have that 78 rpm. Is that the US Decca Personality Series original pressing?
This gives me that post apocalyptic feel 😂
Try a cassette, can it play a cassetet, please help, I need for a party (work related)
When Records and phonographs listens to the ink spots so does the whole street 😁 👍
Is that an Edison wax cylinder phono on the shelf?
Yes
Well that was informative.... :(
Good player I have a Soviet one
The ideal apocalypse music and player.
Where'd you get the record?
Gave me goose bumps love the sound quality even translates through the internet I can’t even imagine what it’s like to be in the room hearing it!
it's nice that you played their records to their grave! may maybelle carter rest in peace....
Nice! what 45 record it is? also, you can play modern records somewhat, you just need to shapen the tip of the steel needle and slow it down to 45rpm and that's it. i have done it and it works and it plays fine. If it's still slowing down then try shapening the needle more untill it start's playing properly.
A beauty my generation will never experience .
I always listen to really old records. I wish I had this and Robert Johnson playing
You can play vinyl mate on gramophones but it has to be 78 rpm I’ve been doing it for ages absolutely fine. 45 rpm however are actually shite and shouldn’t be done on a gramophone
I played my 45 record on my homemade acoustic phonograph and it sounds fine on my turntable after that.
I used candle wax and dull the steel needle by playing an early 78 record for 6 seconds to reduce wear.
@@digidoridvideos3672 perhaps because is homemade…
@@Tmilitaria Yeah but it's an victor phonograph imitation so I glued the coins to my soundbox to weigh the same as an real soundbox would.
that's so interesting to hear. it is late and i'm playing this back through tiny laptop speakers. i'm going to come back tomorrow when i can play it through my 'stereo' to get a better idea. thanks. where do you get to hear this? :)
That is beautiful.. thank you for sharing.
That's the most gorgeous horn I've seen.
What movies have you seen has the part when they are playing vinyl on old gramophone?
