Mizuno JPX 919 Forged vs JPX 921 Tour SEL
Comparing the JPX 919 Forged to the 921 Tour SEL. I could never find any good comparisons between the two to help me make a decision, so I am hoping this can help you out!

    How are you feeling now that you’ve gotten some play time with them ? Im moving from game improvement irons I’ve had forever (callaway XR’s) and trying to be more serious about it. I’m just worried about forgiveness on Miss hits, I still have a pretty good tendency to hit toey. Are you noticing a huge difference in distance on mishits ?

      More often than not, I am usually a tad on the toe side of center when I hit anyways. I feel like these clubs are very forgiving for what they are. The only time I really seem to suffer is when I really thin it, or hit the good 'ol fashioned hosel rocket. I really do love these clubs, they look really nice too. The thinner top line took some getting used to, but I got used to that quick. The one thing I would recommend is - whenever you get new irons - look into the current swing weight of the irons you're currently using and get your new irons as close to that same swing weight as possible. Will make the transition easier and won't make you re-learn your swing!

    In the SEL 921's , are the 4 and 5 irons forged? I believe they are? I'm looking at picking up a slightly used set of these SEL.

    • @reale32590
      @reale32590 2 года назад

      Yes , that is correct. I got my set starting at a 5 Iron, but the 4 & 5 are both the forged. I love these clubs, bet irons I've ever hit!

    How do you like the 921 vs 919 ? How did you hit them?

  • @markpilutti4532

    I've tried the MP line in the MP 25, MP 60 and MP 18. Also the JPX 850 blues were my first mizuno set and wanted a better consistency so I tried the MP line. But the JPX line is for the 8 to 30 and I'm carrying a 12 handicap. I've been fitted for putter, driver and now irons and it was ping i210 irons. But I don't hit enough to be confident on the course with a players looking iron. So the JPX 919 forged are for me, I'm jist so grateful that mizuno is starting to look at the left handed offerings on both sides JPX and MP

      I couldn’t agree more. I must say, I was a little bummed when I originally got fit for the 919 forged that they didn’t have the tour edition for lefties. Before any of my mizuno clubs, I played with some big ol cavity backs so it was a nice change for me. Since I’ve got the 921 tours I’ve been holding a 10-11 handicap and I love them. If only mizuno had a driver that made you hit straight every time 😂. Thank you for your comment!

    how do you feel about the lofts?

    • @reale32590
      @reale32590 3 года назад

      I personally like them. The difference between the 919 Forged and 921 Forged lofts didn't make too much of a difference to me, it's only 2 degrees I believe on irons. My distances are more on par with my buddies now, so it helps in my club selection as well. I tend to hit my clubs further than most, so these lofts kind of helped me sync up with others so I can make better decisions on the par 3's. Hope that helps!

    Thinking of buying the 921s, do you use the gap wedge with the 921s and if so how does it feel and if not what do you use instead

    • @reale32590
      @reale32590 3 года назад

      Hi Conrad, thanks for the comment. I ordered my set 5-PW so it didn't come with a gap wedge. All the wedges that I play are the black Taylormade MG2's. I've had vokeys and cbx2's and they were all sub-par to the MG2's. So I carry a 50, 54 (bent to 55) and a 60 degree wedge. If you get the 921's you wont regret it, they are the best irons I have ever owned

      @@conradbarrett6 people are obsessed with them, but they felt so clunky to me, and like a really “hard” wedge. The mg2’s feel very responsive and they are really easy to control. I really like the weight distribution of them too

      @@reale32590 what do you think about getting clubs fitted do you recommend that.. my first set of clubs I did get fit for them and then my second set I did not but I don’t remember if it helped or not lol

    • @reale32590
      @reale32590 3 года назад

      @@conradbarrett6 I got fit for my recent set of clubs (the 919's, but I applied the same settings to the 921's). But during the fitting process, it was crazy to see the difference between the stiffness in the different shafts, how it affected the flight and accuracy of my shots. I think it is definitely beneficial to get fit, the shaft will make all the difference for you! If your shaft is too stiff you may be more willing to slice the ball or not be able to get it in the air, if it's too soft you may launch too high, not get enough distance or not be able to accurately aim your ball because it'll just take off after you hit it. For the extra $100 or so you'll pay for the fitting, I think it is definitely worth it. I was about a 16 handicap before getting my mizuno's and now I am a 11.1. Between getting fit and putting in some good practice, I've been able to bring down my scores a bit!

    3 month post video review? I just won a set of 921 SEL. Pretty good ball striker I hover around 8-10 hdcp. Just want to make sure they aren’t too bladey for me before putting them in the bag?

      @reale32590 3 года назад

      Hey man, thank you for the comment! So I have been using them at the range every weekend and I have a simulator in my shed that I've been hitting on pretty frequently. They are awesome. I feel like I have so much control with them and the distance is great too! I have been working on my gapping so I can strike better. I was a 14 handicap last year, and I am currently a 11.1 and hopefully moving down. They look "bladey" but they are very forgiving, in my opinion. I still highly recommend them

      I honestly found them easier to hit than the 919’s. I feel like I have better accuracy with the 921 long irons too. I feel like the contact is just so great on the 921’s. Either way they are both great, I am definitely favoring the 921’s...hope that helps!
