Drill bits aren't the greatest thing to make precision round holes. A quality mag drill with angular cutters and built in lubrication system would cut your time in half and make more precise holes.

I have that cart under my laser. If I touch the cart, it moves and wrecks my project. Now I'm looking at putting blocks under the cart to stabilize it. A two wheeled cart seems better, but I committed already.

Excellent build. I seen spot welds done by both MIG and TIG tons of times but this was the best result yet. Have you thought about grinding a small notch on the rim of the cup for spot welding? May help hot gasses escape or maybe not a good idea? I seen your settings listed but what diameter electrode and how was it prepared (blunt, pointed etc)? Greatly appreciate any feedback!!!!. Cheers

Very nice work! I am looking at doing the same thing and have a few questions. Did you go with removable bushings over press fit to save money? I can see having to switch out the bushing between holes adding a lot of time. Did you use bushings 3/4" long or less to create chip clearance? Was there a reason you used a drill bit and reamer over a annual cutter? Thank you for your time

What he did was a waist of time. That mag base drill has HSS drill bits that cut out perfect holes. They cut the out side diameter and leave behind a center slub the spring pushes oh after the cut.

Very nice. Oddly, my HF 20 ton press stud is 1.915” diameter. I decided to leave that and make a removable piece to fit over it out of 2.250” dia 1144. So everything fits on that. Also I get the point of press pins as I’ve done that too. But I found that I needed to use hardened pins for them instead of just machining the ends down as that tends to mushroom too easily. So I just pressed the pins into the pieces that fit in the end of the adapter I made. Nice handle holder. I didn’t think of making it that way. Instead, I welded two 0.750 x 1” tabs onto the bottom edge of the beam and put thin rubber there for the long and short handles. I like that bottom tray. I never go down that far with the press, so I’m thinking of making one for the fingers of my SwagoffRoad finger break. I never know where to put these things.

Kool shop. Nice to see a true machinist make one of these. A lot of hacks out there. I’ve been a toolmaker/fabricator for 50+ years. Certainly over kill using a CNC but hey like you said, SATISFACTION. Love the Monarch, one of the best lathes out there. And a nice Doosan lathe. My sons bought my CNC machine shop several years ago. Two years ago they bought one of them. Quite happy with it. Majority of our lathes are Miyano which are very good but DN Solutions (was Doosan and Daewoo prior) are building great machines at reasonable prices. BTW your Tig Is extremely good. Nice video too.
