Soul Warming Chili

Hope you are enjoying good food in nice weather. I made this chili a little while back, when spring had finally just begun to surface here i Norway, after a too long winter. Hope it helps you warm up wherever you are ^_^
Ingredients (skip to 1:16 for instructions):
- 1 Sweet Potato
- 400 g total kidney beans, black beans and/or chicken
- 1 bell pepper
- 1 red onion
- 400g chopped tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- Hot water to cover the ingredients
- 2 cloves of garlic
- Fresh chili to your taste
- 1/2 lime
- Spices: paprika powder, oregano, coriander, garlic powder, onion powder, cinnamon, cocoa powder, salt & pepper
- Vegetable oil

I usually dont like chilli, because i dont like beans, but subsidizing it with chicken seems like something i would enjoy! Thank you for this lovely recipe😊 and norge's cold season is always too long, cold and wet but the summers are even the more warmer and brighter and just lovely
I'm happy you like it, a tip is also to use chicken thighs on the bone if you want to flavour the broth even more, letting it simmer gently for a bit longer than you would with the pre-cooked beans. And yes, thankfully it's getting brighter and warmer now, looking forward to the long, mild evenings of summer! ^_^

Haha yes, not Norwegian, but Japanese food tradition actually harmonise very well with Norwegian ingredients (plenty of seafood and simple, but elegant flavour profiles that make the Norwegian ingredients shine), so I find a lot of inspiration in the Japanese kitchen ^_^

HI Sushila! It is 1 cup of flour, I tried to make it more clear in the description now. If you want them eggless, maybe try to up the amount of oats, adding in some crushed flax seeds and/or combining with some apple sauce for moisture? I think apple sauce would be a lovely flavour addition as well ♡ Good luck!

can I replace kefir with simple natural yoghurt? Or it won’t be the same?
I've never tried, but my instinct says it will probably change them a bit, as yoghurt has a higher fat content and so gives a different vibe. The sour notes in kefir are also stronger, which I find balances the honey very nicely. But I encourage you to try, maybe it turns out to be your new favourite, you never know ^_^

If you can't get a hold of kefir, I would try to experiment with buttermilk perhaps? As it is also a bit acidic, but then consider the consistency as it might affect the ratio of dry to wet ingredients. Yoghurt could also be an alternative, but then I would hold back a little on the oil and honey, as yoghurt is higher in fat and less sour than kefir. Hope that helps! ^_^
This is such a delicious looking recipe 😋the combination of the oats/bran/almonds crunch with the cooked apples is perfect. I would go for the kwark or Greek yogurt versIon for my breakfast or as dessert. Do you think I could use maple syrup instead of honey in the crunchy mix?
I think that would probably work fine yes, as it still gives the sticky sweetness. And I agree, for a breakfast the yoghurt version is a great alternative! Glad you liked the recipe ^_^

Sweet meat cake! I'm not sure how this recipe is going to work, but I like sweet things and meat (or at least things that have a savory meat like texture).
