Hi Brando. Quick question!!! It have a 87 jeep wagoneer that I just got for $800. It's been sitting for 15 yrs so I cleaned the entire engine and truck with the water pressure. I finally manage to get the engine started, unfortunately there's a knocking sound on the engine. My starter solenoid has gone bad 3 times within the 4 times Ive been testing the truck. I replaced the starter also notice a fried wire under the dash. I replaced the burned wire from the harness that goes to the ignition clip. There's sometime Killing my stater solenoid just don't know what could it be. I'll appreciate any tips !!! Could it be that the solenoid is cheap? I got it from Autozone.

Yeah the one that sits on the steering column had a short. I looked for way too long and at the time I didn't know much about it so I just bypassed it with the push button, there's hidden switches that has to be turned on now in a certain order for it to start. But it's been like that since with no problems and still running like a champ.

why did you do this? ignition switch go out?
