The current price of carbon credits is incredibly low. And major corporations have been burned in the court of public opinion for buying carbon credits in projects that turned out to be scams, so they're pivoting away from buying carbon credits as a means of being carbon neutral.

Could you recommend it for a hay field ?

Biochar is an incomplete solution on its own. Without soil, compost and microbiology it can’t do anything. It’s really only good for amending poor soils and only in conjunction with the above. And the production and logistics economics pretty much remove it from the equation. Really only good for small scale specialty applications.

I live in an arid climate & currently use humanure in the construction of hugelkulture raised beds, where the partially rotted wood is laid in the beds and humanure is used to fill the voids, with a generous layering of grass clippings, cow manure & soil to seal in the odors. This has worked well for me, but I've wanted to incorporate charcoal into my soil, so am investigating using it in the manner you do... I'm just not wanting to bring/use charcoal dust indoors... maybe I'll keep it damp to prevent dust when covering the goods. 😉

What was the aggregate size?

I stumbled into this idea myself. I started filling all the holes in the lawn with Biochar just as an easy way to start getting it applied somewhere. I then on a whim broadcast it in the high traffic area at the gate for the chickens. Really helped take the squish out of the mud at that location. I have in front of the garage door I have not done yet as its so close to the house I was concerned about tracking it in like you mentioned.
