Turning Fruit Syrup into Pie Filling
Просмотров 42Месяц назад
The other day we decided to see if we could use corn starch to turn our homemade huckleberry syrup into jelly, and it worked! We thought of home canned pie filling when making this recipe, because some call for adding a thickener once they are out of the jar. We decided to try it out for ourselves, since the concepts seemed very similar. We hope you enjoy!

Thanks for the video, im going too make a smoke house as well!
You’re welcome. Let us know if you if you have any questions about building the smoke house. We’re more than happy to answer them. Thank you for watching. Happy New Year!
Expellant video! I am going to make a smoke house. Thanks for simplifying it.
Very good. I like that you don't edit out your mistakes. Seeing that you accidently used waxed paper will make me more aware of that in the future. Keep doing what you are doing!
Thank you! I was a bit nervous about leaving in the mistake, but I also don’t want people to give up if they do make a mistake. Seeing that this recipe can be really tedious. Thank you for watching. (:
Fantastic!!!! You, go!!!!
Looks delicious also you can use as a garnish for Christmas cookie platters!
That's a great idea! We will be trying this in the future. Thank you for watching.
Love this. My mouth is watering! Thank you for recording the process, posting and sharing your tips and tricks!
I've always wanted to can oranges. This video definitely inspired me to finally get that on a roll. Also, I am excited to try the Mexican Coffee recipe! I only ever used my orange peels to make household cleaner with vinegar. Looking forward to your other videos. Thank you.
Thank you a bunch! I hope you enjoy the oranges! Happy canning (:
Wow! Tento recept si ukladám, určite ho urobím na budúcu sezónu. Srdečne pozdravujem.
Very down home and informative - thanks! you are continuing an art that is going to be lost - Please keep it up!
Thank you, very much. We definitely will keep canning, it’s a hobby we really enjoy, and hope to keep expanding upon.
Yes, you need to let the pie cool completely 😁 But the recipe looks delicious. Im going to make this for Thanksgiving 😁
Thank you, for watching. We hope you enjoy the pie. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! (:
مرحبا فيديو جميل بالتوفيق والنجاح الدائم
I bet it would be great with Kava
I really enjoyed this video
Thank you so much for watching.
My ma makes Cow Boy Candy. Once I'm done with eating the Jalapenos, I use the brine for cooking. I'll add it to soup or a stir fry for a little bit of a flavour kick.
We’re definitely going to be trying this. Thank you! Thank you for watching.
wow what is cowboy candy~~haven't seen it in any place in China. And I think you can turn up the voice a little bit~~~nice video!!!!!!!
Cowboy candy is a sweet and spicy pickled jalapeño peppers. We’ve honestly never heard of it until recently. I’m not certain that it’s on shelves here in America either. At least we’ve never seen it before. Thank you for the heads up on the volume, we’ll be working on that for future videos. Thank you again, and thanks for watching.
@@LittlesproutsHappyHome really enjoy watching videos about food all over the world. What a special name, before I see this video, I thought it is a kind of candy LOL
That's funny, we thought the exact same thing when we first heard of it too (:
Looks good!
Too much food but I could share
We agree. We gave quite a bit away. But it’s still a lot, for sure.
Sorry, we're a bit nasally. Hope everyone stays healthy and doesn't get sick as well. What are your thoughts on the CSA, is it something you would do? Or is it too much food?
Fun family project. Did you wet your items first?
Hi, no we did not. I think I read afterwards that we should have. But, I’m honestly not entirely sure. (:
Have any of you ever tie dyed before? How well did it go? (: We could not stop giggling at the beginning of the video, due to what we thought the final product was going to look like. This will be a fond memory for us.
What are your thoughts on fermented garlic honey, how would you cook with it?

What is your location and growing zone?
Hi, we are in Eastern Washington, Zone 6b.
Yumm. I'm thinking about adding red onions to that..... I love kimchi on fried eggs
That sounds really good! If you remember, let me know how it is. 😊 I love kimchi, I’ve never had it on eggs before. I have something new to try, thank you!
Strawberry leaf tea! Never heard of it. Does harvesting the leaves kill the plant for next year?
Hi, I only take a little bit of leaves from any plant I use for tea. It doesn't kill the plant for next year.
@@LittlesproutsHappyHome and do you dry them first or use them fresh? And one last question I guess, is it a medicinal type tea or do you drink it for the flavor or both?
It is medicinal.i have not had any myself, yet. From what I’ve found it should either be made when the leaves are fresh, or completely dry.
Sounds delicious.
Do you have a written out recipe? It looks really good!!
HI, Chris. Here is the recipe we used, you may want to change the amount based on your preference, since peaches tend to make the sauce quite a bit milder. So, I'm going to give the total of what we used for the ingredients, that way you can change what you'd like. As for the written recipe, we just use what we have, so there's not a set amount of certain ingredients we use. We hope this helps! let us know if you have any questions about it. 2,194 grams of peaches and peppers (we used a mix of white and yellow peaches, and a mix of poblano and jalapeno peppers) Salt Water brine mix 2,194 grams (0.03 grams of salt) = 65.82 grams of salt needed We added this to 1 cup of cold filtered water, and mixed until dissolved Once this mixture is ready, we poured it over the food, and let it sit for 1 week. make sure to add more water to cover the food completely to ensure it won't mold. Let sit longer if you prefer a more fermented sauce, if not you can use it and put it in the fridge. To stop the fermenting completely boil, it on the stove. You can, can/preserve it a well if you'd like at this point, or just store in the fridge.
Thank you!
interesting. thanks for sharing.
