Mars and Beyond (1957) Walt Disney
"Mars and Beyond" is an episode of Disneyland which aired on December 4, 1957.[1] It was directed by Ward Kimball and narrated by Paul Frees. This episode discusses the possibility of life on other planets, especially Mars.[2] The show was also released in theaters in 1957.[1]
The film begins with an introduction by Walt Disney and his robot friend Garco, providing a brief overview of the episode. The overview starts with an animated presentation about mankind seeking to understand the world in which he lives, first noticing patterns in the stars, and developing certain beliefs regarding the celestial bodies. Theories from scientists and philosophers are discussed, including Ptolemy's inac...

Jim’s a Scrooge.
_What do you think, 10 minutes on the automatic detinator?_ _I think we can set it for 5 minutes if we hurry._
Very cool. Thanks from an original release viewer
You're Welcome. My brother and I saw 2001 at a theater on Hollywood Boulevard before section titles were added and before a long 10-minute scene of Gary Lockwood running in the wheel was edited down to a few minutes.
First
Why doesn't the Princess have a name? Also what is the moral?
You would have to hold a seance and then ask the spirit of H. G. Wells those two questions. Hah
@@timfonseca5066 Very funny.
But it’s true
Haha
God bless you. RIP
#TheDarkCrystal is #JimHenson 's Masterpiece. a Jim Henson (1936-1990) 's technical inovation sci-fi Fantasy Films.
Suborbital refueling over artic.... thats doing it the hard way.Good luck Elon.
I remember this well. Pretty accurate for the time.
Good morning! Nothing like starting the day with Fear!
That’s really wierd
We used this music for our Graylock haunted house (garage) 50 years ago.
Well that was pathetic I hope the rest of the series picks up from here
I love Joan Hickson I think she's wonderful as Miss Marple. Vincent Price was terrific, too. Thank you for uploading this ❤😊 I hope you have more.
I may have some episodes on stored away DVDs that I am finally going to check.
One of the beat 50s sci-fi movies! I keep buying new editions of this one. (I think the Criterion edition is the most recent.) When I hear Gene Barry's name, I think of War of the Worlds and the Bat Masterson TV show (1958-1961).
Criterion Edition??? WOW .. I didn't know about that one until now. Thanks for the info.
Amazing storyl
I agree. ABC Televison released the first 2 seasons of One Step Beyond on DVDS, and remastered, but for some reason they still havent released the 3 season. "The Sorcerer" episode is from the 3rd season and all of the copies of it on the web are missing John Newland's introduction.
3D Please!❤❤❤❤❤
I will check if the original 3D version of "The Maze" was ever released on DVD or Blu-Ray.
The BBC should finish this series, disgraceful disrespect to viewers who pay their wages to cancel a show people wanted. Plus it would cost very little these days.
I agree.
Great soundtrack
Hi Fred, The second Finale track is my favorite (not the silly first Finale track that was thankfully not used). A beautiful haunting, sad, piece that sounds to me like an epitaph for the human race.
Saw this at a drive-in in Portland Oregon when it came out. Scary and memorable to this 12 year-old! Always thought it was a Mexican production 😄
I thought it was a Mexican production too, at first, from the low budget look. A good film and creepier wearing 3D blue and red glasses.
The movie that inspired Hitler to write chow mein Kampf.
My ex girlfriend used to call me tripod...
Ha,Ha
The set designer was the same artist who designed Robby The Robot in Forbidden Planet. Smart choice.
I will have to scrounge up an extra 40 dollars and buy the recently released complete 13 episodes Blu Ray DVD set.
@@timfonseca5066 do you have a link to where that can be purchased?
I've not seen this interview before. .. so very glad that i have come by it. Thank you. She was 'the best' MISS MARPLE! - I wish that I had had an aunt like her!
I recorded a bunch of Miss Marple TV episodes on VHS tapes decades ago, but they were lost during a move. Darn it.
Where do come up with all this? 😂
Heh, heh
A possible inspiration for the movie "Alien",at least as far as the derelict is concerned. Another one is "It - The Terror From Beyond Space" - 1958 (blasting the creature out of the airlock).
I completely forgot about the scenes with the airlock. Your right.
This is as gay as Scarlet Johansson's freshly out of the shower nude body.
Just saw Nemesis she will always be Jane Marple😊
NIce! I actually have this on VHS. They must have released it in one of those 3D resurgences in recent decades. Not a bad movie really.
I agree, a good low budget film.
Spectular.
Thank you, I had to upload this hour long special in segments to avoid youtube's trimming axe.
He was a great director! Glad you’re keeping busy . Busy here too chat soon. ❤
Stanley!
Haha
is there any chance of you uploading the Gorey animated intros at 1080 or 720?
No. I checked, and I have nothing that size. Sorry.
Truly brilliant film, superbly scripted acted and directed
Thank you!
Your Welcome!
I vaguely remember this movie. As for Hitchcock's firing of Berman -- Hitches loss.
I wish this television programmer was still there! An excellent selection for Irene Dunne’s double feature 👌🏻
I have some Irene Dunne films to upload. I hope there are no copyright issues though.
This was totally UNATTAINABLE for us !
The same here. We made some of our own toys.
Speaking of copyright, I wonder how Irwin Allen got away with "Land of the Giants" nearly ten years later?
I was thinking the same thing. Funny thing is, this is A LOT better written. Some decent suspense here!
This entire 13-episode series is now available in Blue Ray DVD format.
@@timfonseca5066 Will You be uploading the remaining episodes on RUclips ?
Excellent news. The series was released on blu ray and DVD. It is therefore available on your favorite p2p networks in its entirety. All 13 episodes. Enjoy.
thank you for hosting this. I didn't even know the show had existed until about 20 minutes ago! (ʘ_ʘ)
I just heard about it yesterday when it was mentioned on a review of 50s & 60s sci-fi programs.
Wow... I was in the hospital for 2 weeks and at home sick and recovering, so I missed your post.
Wonderfully eerie with comic actress Charlotte Rae.
Bruce, it was you who made the movie great. As a kid back then, I worshipped you.
My dad (RIP) often described this episode to me, but couldn't remember what series it was. It was always one of his favorites. I'm very excited to have found it at last! My only disappointment is that the brain in the tank wasn't really shown very well. Dad always remembered the eye as being prominent, especially when the wife blew cigarette smoke on it... I guess this proves the power of suggestion.
Now is the time to add some AI into the machine and we are close to mechanizing it without changing the form.
Certainly the greatest and most influencial science fiction film ever made.
#28 AFI? Well deserved. Movie making perfection in all respects. You never get tired watching it, it's so well made and compelling. Way ahead of its time. Unbelievable visual effects, even by today's standards. Beautifully filmed.
This was NOT the star wars of the fifties,it was however the original star trek! And quite possibly the bases for star Trek, as there are so many similarities!!
