Hi guys, great podcast yet again, wish I could listen in one go, have you utilise the journey to work. What I think would be good is maybe the next review, let us know what was the one biggest challenge you had over the last 6 or 3 months depending on when you do the next one. Thanks Andy

Sometimes if we see a car that we don't recognise driving through to the carpark at work, we note the reg and them we check the name of the customer before they walk in the office. Then as they walk in we say " Hi Mr/MRS so and so " and the look at their eyes is like, hell how do you remember my name! That leaves a great impresion!

This is a great looking workshop, the service/vhc videos we have used since May 2020, it’s probably the most popular feedback we get still to this day, more customers mention this in conversation over anything else. It’s such an important tool to show transparency to a customer. Great jobs guys both on the ramp and The mini shop 👍🏻

This Martin chap is due a few beers - without knowing the figures involved even it sounds like he recognised this young man’s talents very early and they have both ended up benefiting massively from this. And all that knowledge and experience early on has led to a fantastic second site. Long may it continue! 👏

For what it’s worth adding. This “vendor finance” or “deferred payment” to the seller is very common and not spoken about enough. When we bought my father out. We phrased it “earn out” but worked in a very similar way and allowed him to retire but also ensure the business future without the need for (difficult) bank funding at the time. 👍

Maybe I've gone too far... My business is called Tyre Mann but my wife is on the front counter and my daughter is with me fitting in the workshop... I'm the only man in the business and sometimes I'm just there to referee the clashing of heads!!! 😂😂 A lot of my female customers are very much put at ease just having a female check their tyre pressures or fitting their tyres however, a lot of men (especially of the older generation) seem to think they're unable to do the job properly so I make a point of reinforcing decisions made by my wife and daughter a lot. If that's what they've told a customer, I'm confident that as long as their reasons are sound, I would never undermine them!!

This one has been special and has resonated a lot with me. I am currently in kidney failure and am on dialysis 3 afternoons a week. Our business is a small tyre shop with just my wife and me and occasionally, my eldest daughter when I'm not feeling well, she comes and helps with the fitting. We are keeping it small and manageable because we don't know what the future looks like at the moment but at 5pm, we stop working and it's all about family time! We try and do whatever we can together as I only have so much energy each day. However, there was a period before I started dialysis that I nearly had to give it all up because I was so ill and having my own garage was a dream of mine that I wasn't ready to give up on. The business was on it's knees and even though it's doing okay now, we're not out of the woods yet but saving my business has absolutely saved my mental health and has helped me massively with everything I'm going through. So yes, find time for family as it's very important but my business is my 3rd child and I'll devote just as much time to that as it deserves too.
