wait if a car go in reverse then dose that mean the engine goes in reverse
@TimSmith-vl4qk Usually not, Usually a car will have a reverse gear. On a Lanz Bulldog tractor, you literally reverse the engine to change the direction of the tractor.

I could exercise to the rhythmic beat of this engine.
It's a compressor.
@@plasticbucket The engine and compressor are combined. It's so large it is one unit.
This engine is beautiful. What was its original purpose?
@gottogo8675 This engine was used for compressing natural gas for distribution across North East, PA and Western, NY for residential use. It was taken out of service in 1997!
It may be only 600 HP but the dynamic forces involved in those reciprocating parts would be devastating if they ever escaped from their constraints. Actually if that flywheel decided to go walkabout it could be very entertaining in a morbid sort of way.
The first roller rocker arms! 😂 My late father was a Chief Engineer/Test Engineer for NASSCO back when they built the Exxon/Mobile Valdez oil tanker ship. The huge diesel engine made by Selzer Corporation, takes about 12 to 20 hours of preparation time before you even start it. Turning on lubrication and water pumps and heaters. Certain valves need to be opened and some closed. Then big forced air cooling fans running. When they start it they start filling a cylinder that has crested top dead-center with compressed air. It pushes the piston down and gets it rotating until it fires a cylinder off. I don't know how easily it fires off though. Might take a few tries. The crankshaft is directly connected to the propeller, which is the size of a two-story house. The cruising speed out in open ocean waters is 80 RPM. I think it idles at 30 RPM. After shutting down the engine, it takes about 7 miles for that ship to start to slow down! The momentum is massive and gives an idea of that freighter that collided with the Baltimore Bridge recently. There's nothing that stops that much weight. It just crushes, and twists 3 to 4 inch thick steel in the hull like a beer can! Those big diesel engines are about 3 to 4 ship decks tall. There's a door on the crankcase where a guy goes inside wearing a raincoat to check clearances and make repairs. There's always oil dripping from above, so, they wear a raincoat. 👍
@ElectricBillAlbright Very fascinating! I've heard of those big Selzer Diesels. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome! As a matter of fact that was something I’ve Done before as well when younger, I certainly hope many had a great time celebrating Father’s Day :)
Thanks for sharing

Sadly Deere no longer builds a mold board plow, or manure spreader. They were famous for both.
