Speaking as a former fentanyl addict the depictions are quite accurate. That and heroin are truly the devil's drug. 2 years sober and will never go back to that.

Thankyou Mr Kossoff. Please know that Pauls music defines emotion in any form of art. He trancends the artform with a natural talent with a spiritual connection to draw tears from his listeners. I suppose what were talking about is really the point of making music with such a sublime talent. It was good to learn how his talent was nurtured. His affinity with the blues is telling. I think for the pure natural ability and talent. For the visceral heart on sleeve, individuality, Paul was the best ever on that scale❤❤❤

That was harrowing. I must be the same age as those youngsters in the audience - I mean, they must be the same age as me, now. Weren’t we a respectful, attentive audience? I wonder how the gen z kids would have taken such a presentation? God bless David and Paul. 🙏

From the coroner's report Paul died of "cerebral and pulmonary oedema" as a result of damage suffered from a previous heart attack (the one where he was dead for 35 minutes, but successfully resuscitated).

Pauls playing and style really meant a lot to me as a beginning guitarist. I felt a real kinship with his no frills playing style and the rawness of Free. Paul and Free still mean just as much to me and my bandmates today. We modelled our playing on that template.

  • @willdenham

It's interesting, the stuff about him pushing things to the limit, fastest horse, highest dive. EVH had the same temperament. Fastest cars, loudest amps, turn it all the way up, etc.

His playing was so pure and wholesome. Every note is so concise and just right, like it had been etched there all along, with no loss of spontaneity.

Those words on his son, Paul. Taken from his little book, ‘You have a minute, Lord’. I owned and subsequently lost the copy I’d owned from being a very young man. The book was lost but not the words and love from within its pages. Not so long ago I found a replacement, not that it was needed.

Well, dad seems to be able to demonstrate how Paul his SON was so maxed out on drugs, but doesn't seem to mention that he didn't intervene to get his son ANY HELP. But hey let's go on the road and sell a story about his drug addicted son. $$$$. What a sad situation.

@mickcorbett6724 Did I hurt your feelings? Who cares what you think. I have my opinions about it. He clearly was holding events about his story. And I'm sure that these events centers. Just let him use them for FREE and setup all the chairs and tables for FREE. And then let people in for FREE. And he paid X amount of dollars for event Insurance. These events have to be covered with INSURANCE If people are in attendance. But you can see it was a multiple location event. And he didn't make any money. Ok Einstein dream on.

David was a strict Victorian. Paul blossomed in the 60's. They were doomed to clash. David once wrote to Andy Fraser "you killed my son". No, it was more likely David himself smothered the life out of his son.,,

Such a strong man to give this to us. He must have been devastated by Paul’s death. I was fortunate to see Free many times in my youth. Before they made the big time, they were based in the Teesside area of England. Free used to practice at the youth club I attended - St. Mary’s Youth Club, Stockton-on-Tees - and in return they gave many free gigs. They were so popular and had a massive following in the Teesside area (Paul Rogers being from Middlesbrough). Even when they were famous they would return and do paid gigs in our little club! 2s/6d in old money to get in. Happy days! RIP Paul Kossoff.

Shalom to David and his son Paul. An outstanding story of Paul's life with the band FREE told by an amazing man a very Proud father. As an Australian girl hearing this band in early 70's it changed me and invigorated my senses to listening to English bands that had such an impact on my taste in music. Forever grateful for the likes of FREE. Still have the original record. Thank you for this memory of Paul and especially his Dad for detailing the story of such a great musician. 🙏🙏

When l was a kid David Kossof used to be on Childten s Hour. He was suppossed to be a taxi driver and would tell a different story every week. He wore a leather coat. I thought he was super. It took me ages to make the connection between him and Paul; not until l saw David interviewed about losing the fight to save Paul.

It's just heartbreaking to watch. It hits hard for me, as I was in Paul's shoes for a long time. I had many close calls, legal trouble, broken relationships with everyone. My dad was probably the only one who stood by me and tried to help. Thankfully, i cleaned up and got to spend a couple of good years with him before he passed away in 2017.

He was famous long before his boy died!!!!! This has nothing to do with fame!!!! Its to do with coping with grief - also a way of letting the world know how proud he was of his boy, and keeping his boys story alive - and most importantly using the story to educate school aged youth.
