Apparently this scene was loosely based on a real incident at the Stardust involving Tony Spilotro. He had been drinking heavily and was being belligerent toward the dealers because he thought they were using rigged decks. After busting several hands in a row, he picked up the cards and threw them at the dealer while telling him to shove the cards up his ass before walking away from the table. Only thing - this scene takes place AFTER Nicky had been banned. In real life, the incident happened well before Tony Spilotro was “black booked,” though it was supposedly cited as one of the reasons he was banned.
