I was there aged seven in 1958 and remember being hit in the face by pebbles/stones. There was zero care about safety those days for drivers let alone anyone else!?
I share-owned and flew EON Olympia 2b "Pennine", possibly in this film. Glorious days!!
A really different era, when I was born. Still find it strange that many men worked with a waist coat, jacket and flat cap ! and often a fag in gob. Still I suppose this was before proper work clothes and casual wear.
It's Lovely Looking at your pictures of Bridlington and the Yorkshireman and Other SHIPS on the Pictures ..
The Yorkshireman was the Largest of all the Passenger carrying Boats
when dinosaurs roamed the earth...
omgggg whitby looks like transilvania way back then lol
They still had the archery at Sewerby in the early 70s back when I was a kid. Happy days.
We didn’t venture there until 2012 but we now go regularly we love the town on a good day 4 and a half hours drive greetings from Scotland 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Yes,Brilliant stuff.First visited in 1955 last time, last weekend Flamborough and Sewerby will never lose it's magic.(Gardens at Sewerby look the best I have ever seen them, better than Castle Howard!) The Harbour, however,is not at all the same, rather tatty now.The Walk between North Landing and Sewerby Park is,surely, one of the finest in the Country.
A little explanation might help. Have you grasped the significance of the servicemen marching?
Wish there was more detail, may have known the driver in the 120
Wonderful footage, great to see the Coronia, which I believe is sadly in need of restoration.
Whole town is
The footage is wonderful.. The added sound effects less so....
Needs more appropriate music.

Wow this is great.....
I was out Bridlington yesterday
And Filey and Scarborough
I was most probably there when this was filmed, as we used to go as a family a lot, and Len Tupling was a great favourite at the time. Happy days indeed.
Hi, very interesting, I live very nearby to this. I just wondered where the original footage is from and whether any more is available?
i do have pics that were taken in stages when laid out its like a planes view of it will have to find them
Where's Lop Anderson?
The railway shown is actually the "North Bay Railway" at Scarborough
Thanks for sharing the clips. As an old Bridlingtonian I remember it well, in fact I could be one of the boat passengers!
Hi Kristina, I am Johndb22 and I took the pictures at Boston Park. My father Henry Bristowe was the president of Boston bowing club and a close friend of Stan de Roeck. I can send you more pictures if you can give me your email address. My email address is jbristowe@sky.com Besy Regards, John Bristowe
Excellent footage of times gone by, thanks for sharing !
I love these old clips. My dad used to take us kids to Bridlington quite often in the early 50s. I used to love the harbor and boats, it was my favorite place.Who took the film? Clive
This is amazing there are pictures of my Grandad and Grandma (Stanley and Josephine de Roeck) and at 32 seconds the little girl with the pony tails is me and my dad is putting cream on the cakes. Wow .
Fabulous video - I think the camera man was standing on or near to the corner of the Gerard Rd junction onto Wellgate. The school on the left hand side is gone and there are some houses there now, but the houses further up are still there (identified the one with the billboard on the wall as being the corner of Frances Street). Great stuff.
