Should You START A Clothing Brand In 2023?
Hello, please how did you go about producing this? It is really cool
I hear ya. I was having a very unproductive week last week despite trying to push. I’ve started my hustle but haven’t been very public about it. This makes me think it’s ok to show that side. Keep it up.
Cheer man. Nice to know it wasn't only me 🙂 I think it's ok to be quiet about it in the beginning as unsolicited and misguided feedback has the potential to derail you while your idea is in its infancy. You keep it up too. Thanks for your support 👍
*Cheers
If running a business was easy, everyone would and could do it. It's the perseverance that sets you apart from the rest. It's the pain that means you can control your own destiny and freedom.
Cheers Dom. That's the dream! I'll keep on keeping on. Hope all's well with you.
👏👏👏👍👍👍
@@snoopybrown2438 Thank you 🙂👍
It's just one of those days, my brother. I think it's a part of the journey towards ultimate success. and the fact that you are really passionate about what you are trying to build, so the delays/inactivity makes you feel stagnant. In my personal opinion, you have a great brand that you are trying to build. Just keep going forward with it and weather the frustrating moments. Would it be possible to get your feedback/opinion/advice on a brand idea that I am trying get going as well? If it is, please let me know how. Much blessings!
Hi mate. Thanks very much for your comment. Really appreciate that. I'll keep pushing on Yeah, I'd love to have a look at it. Maybe DM me on my Insta profile (@velokind) and we can sort something out 👍
Can you do an infant hoodie?
Hi. We don't print any infant hoodies so I can't show one o those, sorry. I imagine this technique would be difficult given there's not as much material to play with.
These hoodies should be 3 different colours
Yeah, that would have been a good idea. Cheers for watching
great stuff!
Thanks man👍
Very helpful 👌
Brilliant. Thanks David 👍
Great Content for newbies like me. Can you please help me with couple of questions I have? 1. Name or attach a link to the thermal label printer you have? 2. Size of the tissue paper you use and where to order in the UK? 3. Custom packaging tape and where to order? Thanks in Advance
thanks
Thanks for watching, Ismael 👍
Need some background music.
Yeah, thought that too but I unsubscribed from Envato Elements recently to save a bit of cash. Music all the way through or just parts of the video?
@@TheApparelLife it should be parts of the video, you know when you're waiting with the phone operator they have that soft soothing background music. kind of like that. I think RUclips have copyright music you can use also.
Cool. Thanks for your feedback. Just trying to embrace progress over perfection but kicking myself now! I'll look into it again.
Unless your target audience largely consists of teens, I don't think that printing using other colors than white or black matters too much. I don't find it easy to pull off printing those colors on anything that's not white or black (I consider stuff like heather gray and anthracite as white and black respectively). Mid 20s are times when people (especially men) start considering colorful and complicated prints childish and refraining from wearing those. If your main demographic is 25-34 years old, I'd suggest opting for colors and designs that mix and match well with jeans/canvas trousers/linen pants and sneakers (I, for myself, wear those types of t-shirts only on casual outfits and the grand majority of my casual outfits are composed that way). One more important factor is that the fall-winter season is coming up and t-shirts will most likely get layered with pullovers, chord shirts and hoodies, which increases the number of colors in a single outfit and the more colors an outfit has, the harder it is to pull off. Under these circumstances, my humble recommendation would be to keep colors minimal and strictly neutral as well as to limit the designs to relatively small and simplistic. I'd focus on the mid chest area as back designs or crest designs will be minimally visible. One design that I'd opt for is some smokey, misty, batique-like single color half tone design that says something about how rain never keeps the person from riding, maybe even a pun about braking being significantly harder on rainy roads.
Hi Kemal. Wow, some amazing insight you've shared there. Thank you. My target market is 75% male and 35-55 with medium to high income- I think you're right - clean, classy designs are the way forward. Luckily that suits my printing capabilities right now!
If you wanted the "basics" (if that is even a thing) to get into screen printing, how much are we looking at and what would be needed?
Hi. Tricky one to answer. You could get into it via a combination of second hand and new for £2k. Then anywhere up to £10k-£15k for a mint manual setup for a single operator. Lowside you'd need... Screen printing press £500 used Flash dryer for curing the inks £400 used Exposure unit £250 used Screens £200 Screen drying cabinet £200 DIY Printer £250 used Ink and consumables £300
@@TheApparelLife thanks, I just love the content that can be created. It's so interesting to watch you print. I'll have to look at that set-up (much) further down the line👍
Nice work. What do you use to create your designs? Randonly thought of a tag line for another "wordy" tee, feel free to use - Ride On, Ride Strong. One on the front, one on the back.
Thanks mate. I use Adobe Illustrator. Some designs I created myself. Others, I sketch the concept and share with an old friend who does some graphic design work and he gives me a few options. Thanks for the tag line. RIDE is a great idea...used a lot more than CYCLING for those in the community. Only challenge is that RIDE can refer to other sports so need to be clever with the design. Cheers!
Awesome stuff man.
@AndyMalton Cheers man 🎤🙂
Hey I love your channel and have watched all ur vids I for about 2 years have wanted to do this but seem to have no confidence or idea where to start. Keep going mate 😊
@@matthewslater9082 Hi Matthew. Thanks so much for your message. It's awesome to know you are out there. Thanks a lot for watching my videos. If you're struggling for inspiration for a brand concept, maybe have a think about what makes you, you. By that I mean, is there something you are passionate about, perhaps it's something you used to be passionate about or maybe it's an experience you have been through which others can relate to. Just ideas...it'll come in time. Thanks for your positive vibes 🙂👍
@TheApparelLife thanks so much and I will do just that I have enrolled on a 5 week business course just to give me some idea of how to even run a business as figures and thing I don't find easy I will have a think thank you for the advice and look forward to more of your videos 😀
That's cool. Good luck with the course. It's easy to think other people are better placed to start than you and therefore lose some confidence, but it won't be perfect from the start. One step at a time. Don't overcommit on inventory/investment. Test the water and get some feedback.
My sleeves are always toooooo short to tuck in. Don't know what I'm doing wrong
@janellebailey2622 Hi Janelle. Don't give up. Check out the video at 2.02... rather than bringing the sleeve back to a square position, leave the sleeve further out...by that I mean, create a larger sleeve "wing" on each side. That will give you a longer sleeve to play with as you wrap it around and tuck in. Good luck 👍
Many many thanks for this

Hey Chris, valuable video thanks you much. Can you give access to the get template? I already requested it from you
Hi John/Mark, Thanks very much for your feedback. Really pleased it was useful to you. I can't see your request. Normally I get an email notification. I've refreshed the link in the video description. Please could you try requesting it again? Thanks, Chris
Love all of it
Hey. Thanks a lot for watching and for your feedback. Really happy you like it 👍
Hi! I’m trying to access the Free Customer Profile template but when I’m directed to the google drive page it states that access is denied. Am I being directed to the wrong page, am I supposed to type something in the pop-up box?
Hi. I'm really sorry about that. You shouldn't need to type anything, just request access. I'll then receive a notification and share the file with you. I've refreshed the link to the file. Please could you try again? Thanks, Chris
What are the dimensions of the boxes you use, please?
Hi Nelson. Sorry for the delay coming back to you. I use 4 different boxes and their internal dimensions (mm, width, depth, height) are: 1) 290 x 215 x 32 (1 to 2 tees) 2) 295 x 213 x 70 (single sweatshirts or multiple tees) 3) 310 x 245 x 97 (hoodies or combinations) 4) 317 x 225 x 150 (larger orders) Cheers, Chris

Thank you, SIR!!!💯✨✅
My pleasure. Glad you enjoyed it 😀👍
I am currently working a full-time job but I also want to start a clothing e-commerce business. I am a bit confused about where to start. Should I invest my time in building a brand first, or should I start with print-on-demand (POD) Dropshipping?
Hi there. I would start by developing the brand concept. Why does the brand exist and who is it for. Then you can name it and begin thinking about what products that target market wants. Once all that's done, in my opinion you have two options. 1) POD or 2) Identify a local and reliable screen printer. I've done a video on the pros and cons of each so might be worth a look. You need to build the brand regardless of which route you take. It will take time and feel messy but you can fine tune over time once you start getting feedback from your actions and customers.
@@TheApparelLifeGreat, thank you so much! I think option 2 is good because I want to create a custom package. I just love your packaging idea, it's really great and looks premium. Is there any other way I can connect with you?
This is so best I've seen so far!❤

Would you say do discount sales in person/stall and upmarket prices on your website and mid-prices on third-party resell platforms for a set period or season 🤔
I've never sold in person, but imagine that's a good opportunity to promote/discount your product a little to encourage the sale without the whole world knowing you're doing it and therefore potentially devaluing the brand. I've used sales on my website for key seasonal events and when orders are low...just to stimulate a bit of activity.
@@TheApparelLife to simulate a bit of activity 🤔 do you mean for boosting seo traffic
No, I meant to generate some traffic to the website and sales...usually by highlighting the sale on Instagram and my email list.
If you ever do a custom order it would be good to show the process, costs and where to buy, etc
Hi mate. Yeah, its a good idea. I'll do a walk through of the process from receiving order to despatching.
@TheApparelLife I probably should have said a custom package order 🎁 or even a normal package order 📦 to show how you ordered it and had it made
I see. Yes, I've added it to my list of video ideas. Thanks a lot.
