Longbow Ping Pong
Ping pong balls make great archery targets. They are easy to see against almost any background, they make you aim small and they are a lot of fun when you hit them.
Here I’m shooting a Bodnik Slick Stick longbow 40# @ 28”
A really nice bow that is light in the hand and quite snappy.
Thanks for stopping by.

Bare shaft tuning Part 2. Shooting smaller stuff
Просмотров 33921 день назад
I’ve been tuning a dozen arrows to shoot with a new longbow. After some trimming, playing with point weight and nick tuning, I think I have them pretty close. Today I’m using a paper cup as a target to see if I can tighten up my groups. I think they’re just about ready for feathers. Thanks for stopping by to see some arrows fly!
Shooting bare shafts with a longbow

Can you really shoot arrows without feathers? If they are tuned properly, absolutely!
Bare shaft tuning arrows

I’m making a dozen new arrows for a Toelke Whip longbow. The bow is 38 lbs at 28” and the arrows are 700 spine cut to 29” with 200gr up front and a total arrow weight of about 375 grains. They seem to fly pretty well. I’m going to do some nock tuning to see if I can tighten up the groups but I think they are close.

Evening practice with the 64 inch Toelke Whip with 10X riser. This is a truly sweet bow, and it's a two-piece takedown!
Bodnik Slick Stick Recurve

A brief look at the Slick Stick Recurve from Bodnik Bows. Today we are shooting balloons! Balloons make fun targets. They provide instant gratification and show up great on camera. Also, since you have to set them up, you really try to make the shots count. Now back to the Slick Stick. This is a wonderful bow. It is smooth to draw, light in the hand and has very little vibration. It is also qui...
Sanlida Royal X8 Recurve vs Flip Flop
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.10 месяцев назад
Trying out the new Royal X8 from Sanlida. This inexpensive one-piece recurve is very nicely finished and a pleasure to shoot. To be honest, it has no business being as good and as nice as it is at its modest price point. This may just be the best budget option I have found for getting started in traditional archery. And speaking of budget options, the flip flop I found on the ground made for a ...

Fun stuff
Where you shooting? I live in Utah and it looks a lot like Utah. Or perhaps a neighboring state of Utah.
@@colorcountrykid good eye! I’m in southern Utah just outside of Zion.
@cafeconflechas nice! I grew up in Cedar City. I live in Spanish Fork now but go down often still to visit the family. I have recently gotten into traditional archery myself. It's been a steep learning curve, but worth it!
@@colorcountrykid I’m in Apple Valley just outside Hurricane. I also have a place on Cedar Mountain just off the North Fork Road where I spend most of the summer. Come shoot some arrows next time you’re in the area!
@cafeconflechas heck yeah man, I just subscribed I'll have to holler at ya
muy bien exelentes tiros
@@detectandolahistoria1769 muchas gracias! Tratando de mejorar aunque sea un poquito todos los días. Creo que estas flechas por fin están listas para ponerles plumas.
Good stuff.
Never work with children or animals they say.
@@mrln247 😂This cat just lives watching arrows fly
good job thanks🤠
very nice group!
@@RobertEatonOutdoors thank you kindly 🙏
I have some shifts that bare shafted absolutely straight.i put feathers on them an they fishtail a bit???The are helical the right direction I clocked the shaft to be certain. Not TO much helical. And my bareshafting is consistent.I have others that are nock left weak and others nock right stiff.I don't get it.
@@justinmurray4652 I like leaving the bare shafts just a touch weak. When I add feathers that usually gets them just right. You may want to try adding just a little bit of point weight. Sometimes rotating the arrow 90 degrees can have a dramatic impact on arrow flight. I usually give that a shot if I have a problematic arrow that doesn’t want to fly right. Just a thought. Thanks for watching and have fun shooting!
@cafeconflechas Thanks! I'll give it a try
Looking good!
Thanks! And thanks for making my favorite quiver!
Looks good 👍🏼 🙏🏼
Thank you kindly. I think they’re almost ready for feathers. Thanks for watching
Nice shooting:) I like your Hipster👍👍
Thank you and thanks for watching! 🙏
Great form!
Thanks! A work in progress for sure. Still trying to clean up that release!
Very nice, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Nice shootin!
Thanks and thanks for watching!
Hi buddy, I really have trouble with balloons. Instinctive shooting is also a certain philosophy of respect for Nature. Shooting at balloons that have crossed half the earth and whose residue remains where you shot them for centuries and centuries, it's not very cool you see. I hope you pick up your trash at least....
Of course I pick up the waste! This is my land and my own personal range. Thanks for watching
Beautiful shooting ! You are a talented archer.🏹 Tks for the video
Thank you kindly
nice shot but you where to the right not center,,,ha
Wow. Tough crowd. It did go through the ring though, I promise.
@@cafeconflechas haha but not center,,hehe nice shot
Props to you. That was bad Ass Shooting a recurve instinctively that well takes a lot of practice and determination.
Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching. Archery is fun.

i am an archer myself and i know how f ing hard that must be and dont you have problems with finding your arrows in the grass?
Thanks for watching! I had a foam target set up as a backstop so I wouldn’t lose any arrows 👍

Man I really dig your style of filming!!! Just got in from the garage fletchings some micro dia. shafts for my 9yr old daughter..we went to the Kzoo expo and I got her a Punky Shrewster from Bodnik, now she has some worthy darts! We got to meet Henry and shoot a few bows at the expo before taking them home..happy shooting!
Yup..morning coffee and a handful of arrows. And my new challenge.. A 52" Bodnik Shrew the past couple of weeks..
That Shrew is a dream bow right there! Thanks for watching
Pure...Instinctive... Cool how you've kept the purity in the filming!
Thanks for stopping by!
What part of the country is that, Utah??
Yes, southern Utah near Zion.

I, was kinda waiting on you to review it with that question. And you shoot a good bow!!
Thank you kindly! For new and experienced archers, I just don't see how you could go wrong with this bow. I'm going to give it a big thumbs up. Thanks for watching.

good video!
You be bad to the bone!😁

Flip flop didn’t stand a chance
Great shots, and even better backdrops
Thanks for watching
Love that quiver! GREAT video nice shooting!!
I love that quiver too! You make a great product. Thanks for watching.
What are your arrow specs. They look like they are tuned very well with your bow/draw length. My biggest frustration with traditional archery is finding the right arrows with the right amount of weight on the front. I feel like I am never quite perfect.
I have a short draw length and these are short 600 spine arrows cut to 27.5 inches with 200 grains up front. They feel like darts but they fly really well out of that bow. Usually when I break an arrow it gets cut down and becomes a Slick Stick arrow. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and happy shooting!
Yup. Tennis ball shooting is super fun! Nice shooting and cool video😎🏹
Thanks for watching and happy shooting! Working on a flip flop video now. They make great targets too!
Nice shot brother! My eyes are starting to affect my accuracy unfortunately.🙁 Don’t help that I wasn’t that good of a shot before that.😂 luckily modern optics have kept me in the game with rifles and pistols but with bows I think I’m actually getting worse.😂🤷♂️
Thanks for watching! Archery is fun and a great way to stay active. I hope you keep shooting for a long time
that was some sweet shooting for sure had to be fun,,,nice scenery!
So much fun! Longbows are cool. Thanks for watching
Wow that is so beautiful scenery! Nice shooting too!
Thanks! The desert sure is pretty when it is covered in snow.
Do you shot a fixed crawl?
Yes I do. It's point on at about 20 yards. Thanks for watching!
Great shooting and excellent video! What is your arrow set up?
Thanks! I’m shooting Gold Tip Traditional shafts in 600 spine cut to about 29” fletched with 3 4” feathers and 15gr field tips. Thanks for watching!
