After seeing a headlight approaching at Hearne , seeing a Z train, being led by an all EMD lashup, and being unable to set up in time, we booked it northward along Old Franklin Highway, and set up at a private crossing for it. After planning a trip for the week before to College Station to go to the Bush Library and Museum, we decided to postpone the trip by a few days so we could also see the 4014 arriving into Hearne. Where is the model railroading things?
Trains can still sound the horn in the quiet zone if the flashing X is blinking for safety the wayside horns don’t live save. Train horns save lives.
They both save lives. The wayside horns are a more localized warning.
Yeah those wayside horns are like taking over even in Sugarland and Stafford and now in Richmond TX I rather go to a Quiet zone for Railfanning

I’ve never seen a crossing where the train honks with the wayside horns. Also this is the best sounding wayside horn I’ve ever heard (because it’s quiet)

Air intake seems a bit slow to shut off lol, thats why it has that progressive decrease in the horn because of the air pressure dropping slower.
