Well, done as always, beloved big Brother Pastor Matt. This topic is hard for me as you know because of my family and personal history. But the teaching here was very helpful. I had been leaning on my own understanding too much in terms of an anti-alcohol Baptistic approach. I am still leaving the alcohol alone outside of communion, however, I do see it as a mandatory for communion. Of course, I am saying this all just to kick off the comments and add a little bit of context anyone who doesn’t know you and might be reading this. You and I discuss these things and will continue to do so. But I said to say this is a great reminder that we must continually turn AND return to scripture for our answers. If I was relying on my testimony alone, I’d be strict abstinence, across-the-board for everybody. That is not biblical either on my part. Scripture is always a blessing. It cuts and heals. - Isaiah 19. It cuts away that which is false and blesses with truth. Your message was that for me today in terms of my theology and need to be adjusted on the topic. Also, you did an excellent job showing the sovereignty of God here. Thank you for the reminder and the teaching that Jesus is sovereign. God is sovereign. Jesus is God. And Jesus never did anything by accident. Good emphasis on the Covenant too. God bless you, brother. I strongly recommend Pasadena OPC as a church to anyone watching this. I am a former member. Former only because I moved away. They are a sweet group and Pastor Matt does a good job. And the Presbyterian model of Eldership is correct there. Can’t find that in a Baptist Church from what I have seen, including the so-called “non-denominational” ones.
