Right, so humans are immune to the lasers. But nothing else is. Clothes, gear, weapons, things, etc aren't, so all the aliens need do it just shoot at the humans and whatever they're wearing and carrying will be destroyed (and possibly hurting the human holding it). Also, since the laser are passing right through the human unimpeded, whatever is carried on the back is fair game. The aliens don't even need to flank the humans to target what is behind them. Humans would be completely disarmed and disabled in short order. No need to revert to "conventional" weaponry. It's Interesting premise, but not fully thought out.

Too many emergencies with inept aliens unable to fix their own devices and tech without human help. The story is for lack of a better term, childish. None of it is believable and the plot is fragmented and as thin as sheer Egyptian cotton. Cut out the use of the word palpable as palpability doesn't happen at every event. Even the great SiFi authors rarely if ever used the word. The characters lack depth and are as predictable as the tide. You have the skeleton of a good story, it needs to be fleshed out and life breathed into it.

This thing reads like the plot of a New Moon Video hour-and-a-half movie done on a budget of about three dollars. The characters are cardboard cutouts operating in a two-dimensional environment of conveniences and contrivances just molded for them to drop into place and Save The Day. _<even longer sigh>_ Please figure out how to flesh out the characters and the story, lengthening as necessary, then try again. You've got a good start here, but it needs a lot of polish.
