Lego Technic worm drive car
Просмотров 2744 месяца назад
Made this little worm drive car to test out various gear ratios for another project. It's been so much fun, I've already started turning it into a tank. A Buwizz 2 powers the two Mould King PF Large motors. Drive ratio is about 14.4:1

First and foremost, this is dumb design and I strongly discourage anyone from trying to build one with wheels this big. I have a box of melted and cracked plastic. One thing this exercise has taught me is the limitations of Lego. The resulting design did yield the most robust and indestructible suspension I've ever created. Motorized Lego 60431 - Rover with Alien Life
Просмотров 17810 месяцев назад
To power the Lego City of tomorrow, we need all the purple crystals we can collect. If Alien Life stands between us and galactic hegemony, it must be destroyed. Instructions: 1. Start with 60431 2. Add gears, Buwizz 3.0, and small angular motor (45607) 3. Conquer Power is supplied to all 4 rear wheels (no steering)
Motorized RC Lego Technic Material Handler 42144 (8 MOTORS!)

When I first got this set I thought it reminded me of a carnival claw game so I went about trying to motorize it. The end result throws aesthetics to the wind and goes for function over form. It's ugly, it's loud...but it works! Lego motorcyle V1 (testing)
Просмотров 411Год назад
V1 passed in-house testing, so I took it out for some testing in wide open. So far, I think that 4L caster is ideal for my setup. Going to modify the lean mechanism to make the bike lean more during turning and focus more on 4L and 5L caster options. I am however, very pleased with my idea for the standing start kickstand!

Wonderful, may I ask where to buy these tiny straps please?
Thats actually pretty cool
Seems to somehow be a relative of my compact test design I had a year ago.. (ruclips.net/video/wTXL9UPe8ww/видео.htmlsi=nHgV8GBDcApHoGp9) 😂
@@shroomzzz nahw, it was just direct drive with focus of testing what is capable with a design just consisting of electronics components.. :D
awesomeee! need some lube and u should test out carbon fibre axles they are stiffer
ouchi at the end! regular plastic axles, I reckon? I also agree on your experience: There is a certain limit for the amount of power which may be transported by the material in its diameter.. As we can't change the format, we need to change the material. Thats why I swear on the MTP ballbeared 5L liftarms for my rc bike builds.. those are needed - esp. on a single swingarm construction.. :D Have you ever tried some carbon axles or the aluminium ones from MTP?
Nice
solid suspension it seems to be! 👌
Wow
Wow, I wanted to do this to my rover as well.
Amazing
Thank you! Cheers!
❤❤❤
How do we build the front suspension
The front required ALOT of non Lego parts and a few modified Lego pieces. A little tip: for starters, remove the 9L beams that stablize the portal axles and they can move freely. From there, you just have to work steering racks and motors (easier said than done). I'm working on a redesign of the front end after summer and will share but here is a look at my latest revision ruclips.net/video/NpeXPx7Z2nE/видео.html If you come up with something in the meantime, I'd love to see it!
This is a very cool model. Very functional, loads of power and I like the large custom diffs! Also expensive :D
Glad you like it!
ayy glad to see more creations, you might need a little more weight and sharper teeth on the tracks along with a lower centre of gravity
Hello friend! 🥰❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for visiting
Awesome 🎉
Thanks 🤗
i think they will be better with 4ws
WoW never expected this for a buwizz, does it also use old motors?
The only motor I could squeeze in there was the small Technic angular motor (45607)
Okay very impressive work!
I’ve been trying to do this
Check this out! ruclips.net/video/lcA3fb_Wmr0/видео.html
Found the answer 👌
No steering. It was still really fun to play with for the hour or so it actually existed!
@@shroomzzz 😃😃
Awesome! Does it steer?
Unfortunately not

&$!#% bro how do you make Lego RC cars😢
Ö ... how did you do that is impossible!!!!! I don’t know how to make that without Lego RC car!!!!!!!😮
great project! i see you used 4 buggy motors but i only have 2. im planning on buying some. if you know where bought your buggy motors please send a link, cheers.
Buwizz motors are the best quality - buwizz.com. You can also get Mould King variants for a bit cheaper (Amazon, Ali, etc)
Great RC mod of the 42144 set!
Thanks!
2 studs offset is the best for my opinion. Thiner wheels back and front, will act better then fat once. I hope it will help 🙂
lol nice maybe next use spike micromotors or decada minimotors
This design uses two decada/cada micromotors-one for each axle. If I step up to the spike mini motor to incorporate steering, then I have to use the Buwizz 3.0. The problem with this approach is that the BW3 is larger and also, I've already ruined one of the prime motors in a steering config by applying too much power. Maybe I'll try again....
@@shroomzzz oh jeez dont overuse spike motors they go poof welp maybe you can use circuit cubes too?
That's pretty cool
tiny!
One thing as a hint: to have it lean into the curve, from my experiences with all leaning-weight passive steering is, you need it to slow down for the weight effect overcoming the forward stabilization (1L-2L offset should be best). as soon as it is leaning in and you want it to keep the angle, try to adjust with just the right amount to let the forces work out against each other. If one would like to turn out -> lean servo outwards and full throttle. Also for first testing I would really recommend to not use the ultrawide rear, better start with the normal wide as a rear, because there is no huge power never for the angle changed from 0° - 30° into both directions. Once you are having the feeling how it should feel, you may go back with the gained experiences to the ultrawide rear. Nice video anyways, thanks for ltting us take part & last q: did it crash hard on the curbs and did the forks and the front wheel rubber dampen it enough? regards
It crashes very hard lol...this is why you can see me always aiming for the grass 😂 that's great advice on the rear and slowing into the turns! Thank you! I changed the weight distribution a bit by orienting the Buwizz perpendicular to the line of travel... so hoping I can get the 'leans' a bit better on version 2!
Think a 3,5L caster might be the way to go :D Got more pics of the stand? Does it simply fold when you start, or does it also drop again when you slow down?
Thanks for the advice! The kickstand is very basic, it just moves a bit out of the way when I start. I can manually flip it all the way up but... Nothing fancy. I tried to use a soft shock and rocker pivot but gave up. Here are some pics iili.io/HiClcvt.md.jpg
Goooood!!!!!
Me encanta, gran 💡 idea
Seeing some nice progress already! Looking forward to see it in action. 🔥
noiceeee! Really enjoying when more ppl get into RC brickbuilt bikes! Good look and don't let yourself down on failures - for me it took ages to get the forth or fifth prototype attempt to run straight and be able to do turns!
4th? 5th? Ahhh, what have I started?
@@shroomzzz 😄 I guess others can have more skill.. :D Or I had some hard "has-to-work" conditions.. (fitting the buggies inside the body, power transmission via chain and finally the one swingarm in the rear..)
that looks sick good luck! would love to see a motorcycle that has a tighter cornering circle than a limo lol
