I also got one from Alibaba: Shenzhen HYX Electronics Co. and it was legit as well. They actually tell you in the description that it comes loaded with ArkOS. Just search for them.

To be honest with you most of the people who buy this devices just load their own Roms or games anyway because the majority of times the games that come preloaded are corrupted anyway. But since you bought it from TikTok there is a possibility that the device you received is not legit and that’s why I’m asking if you know what OS is installed.

@@berius Apparently the person that maintains the ArkOS software for the R36S claims that these devices are not being built by the same factory and the ones being built with the EmuELEC software are using different parts that are not compatible with ArkOS and that’s why they call them clones. There is actually another version being sold that doesn’t even come with the RK3326. It comes with the RK3128 which is really old and doesn’t run games properly. Those factory are just scamming people, taking advantage of the fame of the original R36S.

@@16bitsorhigher yes i do it shows files and when i go to boot the system it just hangs on the first screen with the 3 consoles and when i put a new card with ark on it or any other os it will A blink a red light in the middle or B turn on with a blank screen jelos os did that i tried to clone the disk with no real change and also you know how the back of the console usaly has a sticker saying game console or something like that there was no sticker on mine

@@camerongordon5818 To be honest with you, the only advantages I’ve found so far different from EmuELEC 4.7 are the ability to connect to the internet with a wired connection, Portmaster works and I was able to install and run Half Life, and connecting to the internet I was able to scrape art for games and I’m assuming I can also download extra themes.

@@fiziedon yes I bet everyone who got a fake one felt the same way. When I ordered the second one, I was kind of hoping I got the fake one because I like to tinker with devices and I wanted to see what I could do with it and also to try to help others with their issues. If you look at my latest short video, I was able to flash the latest EmuELEC CFW and it actually works a little better than original stock os.

If you don’t have the ArkOS loading screen then it’s possible it’s the EmuELEC version but I have also seen another version that has an even older OS that’s loaded directly on the unit and is not installed on the Micro SD card according to the people that have posted the pictures. It also has the a cheaper CPU RK3128. If you remove the Micro SD card what partitions do you see?

@16bitsorhigher i flash new ark os 2.0 update sep 23 2024 around 8gb. Using my samsung fold (etchdroid) new 32gb sandisc now have ark os loading screen🥰

​@@16bitsorhigher I got the ones with ArkOS installed, but neither one worked out of the box as I had to reflash them with new screen firmware, at the time I had to do this step around 3 times per device, as there are about 3 or 4 different firmwares. They're also very picky about what MicroSD card works too (Sandisk and samsung work well). Also one of the kids dropped one of their's a short distance and the screen is messed up now, but it still works somewhat. Replacement screens are a about a third of the price of a new device. This was accidental damage, but it does reveal something about the low durability of the device. Currently, I am trying to diagnose an issue with the other one. The screen intermittently goes dark while everything else seems to work. This one hasn't sustained any drops that I am aware of and I think some hardware might be faulty, but making warranty returns to Aliexpress seems like a waste of time as I don't think they would honour anything over 4 weeks.
