Ryan Hawkins grew up in the same town that I grew up in, but I am in my sixties. I played basketball, but not at his level obviously. I think he can make an NBA team for the following reasons. He has some of the measurables. He is 6 ft 7 in tall and has length. If he makes the league, he will be a niche player. He will be a catch and shoot small forward. Look at his release, and his range. He has a beautiful smooth quick release, and he is exceptional a gathering himself as he approaches the spot where he used to shoot. His catch and release are literally a clinic. Also, he runs the floor well and is a very good passer. This is a young man that played six Sports in high school, and to my knowledge has already earned his master's degree. He is an overachiever. He came in and played one year at Creighton, and achieved a role as being the Elder Statesman and team leader. In one season of division 1 basketball, he earned second Team all Big East honors. His specialty would look exactly like what you see in this video. Yes, he would be a defensive liability against very quick small forwards, but with his discipline and intelligence, he would learn to overcome many of his athletic deficiencies. If you are 6 ft 7 in tall, with great length, and can hit the three, there will be a place for you. He did not get invited to any NBA training camps, but I hope I see that perhaps you'll be invited to a g League camp. I really believe in this young man, and hope there's a general manager somewhere that sees him as a diamond in the rough. I think he can flat out play.

The Hawk. For us CU fans (Creighton) , great to see. One of the coolest dudes around. Can shoot from deep as well.

I doubt Hawk will make a team, but rooting for and watching him is still a ton of fun. He's the main reason we played Kansas so close in the second round. He will make an excellent coach someday, natural charismatic leader but extremely humble, people-oriented and down to earth. Let's see what pro basketball player Hawkins can do.

Raps Gotta find a way to keep these players. They are unproven at the NBA level but they are special. At least 4 guys playing in the summer league needs to be given the opportunity
