Here is a video of measureing the dimensions etc. of Galilio's original Telescopes in Florence Italy and showing replicas we made of them.More details see www.scitechantiques.com/Galileo_telescope/
Generating Atomic lite sources you can use for the spectroscope
This important instrument gives us the chemical composition the strength of the electric and magnetic fields of our sun and motion of universe, Its given us the famous Hubble constant. Its given us the quantum mechanical explanation of atoms and molecules and how they generate and absorb light, Its given us Lasers chemical analysis and helped to fill the periodic table with many of its of elements.

In August 1774,,, Joseph Priestley ,,a Natural Philosopher,,,,made a famous experiment ,,, by focusing the sun's rays with a large burning lens on a sample of mercuric oxide.,,, He isolated an "air" ,,, that's what they called it in those days.,,it was colorless, odorless. and vigorously supported combustion.

Here we give you a copy of Moseley published paper where he tells us what he did and others did that gave us a better understanding of period table but more important how scientist work together to make progress happen in science. 'Media, media it is not ever a one hero situation. Media you are corrupting the truth of how scientist really work and misleading peoples view about how scientists ar...

Updated 2/11/2016. What are you looking at now ? Our replication of DAVY'S FIRST STEP SEARCHING FOR POTASSIUM and similar type elements. Potassium created some of the most violent experiments but on a very small scale. Davy electrolysis experiments were made with 200 to 300 volts of batteries 100 or more cells just to get pure potassium metal. See our website for greater and more magnificent de...

Discription of a super simple volt meter made out of a shoe string that can be used to service electrostatic generators like a wimshurst generator or to measure the radioactivity of samples. We use a wimshurst generators as our voltage source it could be piece of glass rubbed with wool. a battery etc. . We are prepairing a more detailed video shortly.

Thank you for this piece of info not available easily. Also Thank you for sharing the movie "Mystery of Matter". :)
Superb
Did you actually get any potassium metal ? Electrolysis of potassium hydroxide in a set up like the one you show doesn't produce potassium metal. Potassium metal seems to be soluble in molten Koh
An infinity almost as traumatizing as the one seen when first peering through Galileo's telescope, great work Jim! I stumbled into Applied research through Basic research and I was wondering if you all still checked your RUclips comments (I'm trying to cover all my blind spots)- Are you and Rhoda still available to be contacted?

I think those actors are thinking "I have the coolest job in the world!".
Excellent quality on the hacksaw cuts!
Beautiful!
Actually he was a genius. You have to remember he discovered this in 1666 not 2015... before they had a solid understanding of the philosophy of light
That's a single pass grem on a rock.
is that water?
That is molten potassium hydroxide.
Rad.
hi can you please tell me how and what you used to make that lightning simulator
Thank you very much for the comments. We've done hours of testing various config's To replicate Davy's experiments for a film sponsered by NSF . We have foto copies of Davy's origfinal hand written notes leading up to his discoveries of Na, Pt, etc. have detailed foto's of most of his equipment replicate his equipment, batteries and experiments. experiments. Thanks again cul
That is one sharp blade!!
Cool! Thanks for posting. I know your website. I appreciated that there are people who make Galielo's telescope replicas these days.
@pandostudent it's a lithography stone, very dense, very smooth. Costs a bomb though
at 1:04 you rub the knife on the table to sharpen it I am guessing, what is the table top made out of?
Valued craftsmanship at its purest, thank you for this video.
I am also building a replica. I have lenses which are identical to Galileo's (the focal points, not the quality). The magnification is very interesting although the field of view is VERY small. It's like looking through a straw. You will definately need a sturdy tripod for this telescope. Soon I will have lenses made of soft glass with many tiny air bubbles, just like the original lenses. I can't wait to give them a try ! ;-)
I'm ,your big fan
Thanks much; IMSS in Florence has several of our replicas, We just made a spectroscope out of two of our replicas that you might find interesting.Sorry for late response
Hello guys, did you measure the telescope's width or perimeter in the center and both ends? because i want to do a replica for myself, and i went to your home page and found information about the telescopes's lenght but not how wide or narrow this telescopes are. Thank you
I've seen the Galileo refractor replica at Griffith -- nice work.
