What are those yellow and blue book on the top most shelve beside "💗Love Design Love" book?
The one on the left of Logo Design Love is Typography Essentials by Ina Waltz. The book to the right is Creativity for Graphic Designers by Mark Oldach. That one came out in 1995 and it's really cool to see graphic design inspiration from before the 2000s 😎
Great stuff! We just shared this video on our design platform. Cheers!
Awesome, thank you very much!
Really appreciate bro
My pleasure, glad it was helpful!
so satisfying how kerning looks when accelerated like that
Right?! And you just gave me an idea for a video 😎
I’m trying to do this with an N, it has good anchor points but struggling to apply the process. I can’t stop changing the size of the angled portion in the middle. Any tips?
The letter N can be tricky. What font are you using? Once I know, I'll see what I can do with it and get back to you.
Source sans pro. Capital ‘N’
One thing I thought of and will try later is to make a reference box for the width of the angled section before I start. Stretch the top row of anchor points, then same at bottom, then reposition bottom corner until it matches the reference box width and same for top (if that makes sense?)…that’s what I will try when I’m home later.
Ok, here's what I did and it's the only way that it looks fairly decent: 1. Type 'N' 2. Go to Type > Create Outlines 3. Go to the Transform panel, uncheck 'Constrain Width & Height Proportions' 4. Selected the top/middle reference point. 5. Entered 'x2' on the height. This stretched the N, keeping all anchor points intact. This may not be exactly what you're looking for, but when I tried manipulating the anchor points individually, I wasn't able to get them to line up without it looking janky. Your solution of making a reference box could work, but this font's N has some anchor points in crazy, random spots. You'd have to play with it until you figure out exactly which anchor points should be edited in pairs. Source Sans is a cool font, but those weird anchor points can make this kind of thing a headache! Let me know if you come up with a solution!
Hi how to cut shapes out paper?
Check out my videos on the Pathfinder Tool. That might be what you're looking for.
They all are cool, but I love the third one! The simplification of the gradient fits so nicely while also resembling the original🙌
Thanks! Yeah, that one is my favorite too 😎
Agreed, except the bauhaus font on the third one was verging towards illegible to me. Otherwise I enjoyed the workflow and results of all of them.
Yeah, some of those Bauhaus fonts can be a little hard to read. That's why it's best to keep them in small bursts instead of long lines of text.
Oh yeah, I would never dream of doing that haha @@TheDesignSmith
Awesome ❤
Thank you! Cheers!
Personally I would have measured the distances of the circles, then copy/move down the line circle to that distance, then scale down the excess at the bottom for aligning the text. All in one go. Would have saved you some time. Maybe this is helpful for some.
Good thinking! There are always multiple ways to execute ideas 😎
Goood
Thanks!
Thank You very much!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching 😎
The beauty of simplicity. This is how every infographic should be designed!

Great video well explained and hope slowcrush hire you when they release VEIL

@@TheDesignSmith I've been using Photoshop for quite some time, so I'm quite familiar with it. However, Illustrator is still a bit of a mystery to me since I haven't used it as much. Even basic concepts like layers can be confusing. I'm also struggling with grids and layouts. It would be incredibly helpful if you could create a beginner series on these topics or recommend some resources that could help me better understand them. Thanks in advance for your reply
@@888vice Absolutely! Illustrator can be daunting at first and it's very different from Photoshop, but you can certainly master it! I have created a video on how to set up Swiss grids here: ruclips.net/video/dOMcrGjWWwg/видео.html And I have several Illustrator tutorials in a playlist here: ruclips.net/p/PLJ33dnJC7SECf2NpdUEnJLtElqBfoDyBA There are always more things to go into more detail on, so I'll make sure I cover as much as I can!
@@TheDesignSmith I'm new here on your channel and I haven't checked out all of your videos yet. Thanks for sharing these with me! :)
@@888vice You're welcome and thanks for subbing!
Hey, stumbled on this video and was playing in the back, those aren't descenders, those are overshoots! Rounded shapes appear smaller than squared shapes, the overshoot in type design optically adjusts for this :) Little bit of simplification but hope that helps.
Thanks for the comment! I was taught in design school many years ago that text that descends below the baseline is called a descender. That's what I've always called it 🙂 I have heard the term overshoots, but it seems to me that they are interchangeable. Do you know of any further difference between the two?
Aye, we’re back!
