It is a great rod still haven’t it don’t use it as much as I don’t fish that way much but great for the price!

Very typical of most reels roller bearings getting shot but it was a great reel. Lately I find it hard to beat the price points of a shimano nasci or Diawa bg stuff that’s around $100.

I got caught in a horrible storm with my brother in his boat one time before smart phones. : P We were on a river that had steep banks on both sides. It was nice out, and then suddenly it wasn't. We probably weren't more than a couple miles from the launch, but at the time only had a johnson 9.9 and going up stream could do about 6mph. We got soaked and there was big streaky lightning everywhere. It felt so good to get back into the truck. : )

I’m not entirely sure geographically where you live but on the coast it’s more subjective to wind. Often times a storm will follow a path like I thought it was going to but then it somehow switch and started heading towards me.

@@lethallure6260 I live on the Texas Gulf Coast so I'm very familiar with hurricanes and tornados. Also do a lot of offshore fishing. I pay strict attention to the weather!! We just finished with our last hurricane a few days ago. Just happy it wasn't a direct hit.

That is a great question a gator trout is a term we use to describe a large trout the size may very depending on the person. Me personally a gator is anything citation worthy in my state which is 24” or bigger. I have a second video coming out next week that shows the fish it’s hard to get it all in one 60 second video. I appreciate the input perhaps it’s time to try it again and see if maybe they have improved. They also never had a disclaimer stating that they recommend 20 pound or bigger for bait casting purposes.

I think it will largely depend on how you want to fish but I do more inshore fishing so the 3000 would suit my needs more but someone who offshore fishes would go to the 4000.

That’s awesome you got a good deal on them I’ve wondered if a light 3000 might be better to get that slightly longer cast.

@@lethallure6260 you may get longer cast with the larger spool. I wasn't even trying to buy or match a combo and they don't really match 😂. Like I said , it balances perfectly. The 3000 Legalis seems to be a lot smaller compared to other 3000 sized reels I have. Maybe that's how Diawa gets it down to 7.5 ounces. 22 pounds of drag. It's a cool reel. For $40 it's great. Honestly , it's pretty nice at $80 imo . Even salt water people like it. I wished I got to that sale earlier. I just happened by there. Who knew Smoky Mountain Guns and Ammo would carry fishing gear ?

@@lethallure6260 Shimano's were gone or I probably would have got one. I really wanted to get something in a 1000 size. I ordered the OTD Okuma Ceymar 1000 , it's pretty nice, but it looks more like a 500. I have more ultralight rods than anything. I need better reels . I'm selling a lot of stuff so I can justify buying more to my wife 😂. Lews stuff is going. I had a new Lews Smash practally blow up catching skip jack. I just get a small Nasci. Sorry for rambling. I'm kinda stuck in a boring situation for a while . I'll sub. Seems like a good channel.

Perhaps I need to give it a second try I know my biggest complaint was using light line on a bait caster was not a pleasant experience

@@lethallure6260PS: I only use spinning reels. I bought a new Van Stall 250 and it came with line, I had never heard of Cortland Master Braid. Since the reel holds 600 yard I was at least going to try it. I loved it from day one. After ½ the season, fishing for 100 plus lb. fish I changed all of my reels to CMB. I have never had anything but good luck with the line. I use 15-20-30-50-and 65 and I think it is the best line I have ever used. Everyone can have different experiences I guess. When spider wire can out I switched from mono to Spider wire and had horrible luck with the line digging in so tight the drag would not work. I lost a couple massive fish and changed but others love it. I have nothing to lose or gain but honestly I think it is the best line all around. Maybe try it one more time. My second choice is power pro slick. I feel Cortland cast father and is more resistant to abrasion. I have never had my line break with either line ( in open water) but I feel CMB is quitter if that makes since.

I just did a Quick Look around online and most of the places that did have them on sale they are sold out. My recommendation is sometime in the spring most places will have great sales because they are clearing stock to make room for the new year’s products. Hopefully this knowledge can help you save some money for next years preseason!!

I completely understand that I think they have to figure out what niche they want to fill first Penn being their reliability and price shimano they are the lightest reels ever Diawa focuses on the price and has probably one of the best reels at $100.

Yes I absolutely still have them, I will say this they do have a couple very small holes that don’t seem to allow any amount of water through. Overall the bibs have done great as I use them offshore fishing coastal fishing and even up in NY when I go visit family.

@@lifegame464I almost always use either Diawa J braid or powerpro slick I believe I have 20 pound on this reel could use 30 as well but need to cast far for the false albacores! Sorry for the delayed response they don’t make it easy to see when people comment.
