Just knowing my Great Grandfather fought in Gallipoli for the Ottomans, being the Only Kurdish Soldier in his regiment and not understanding any Arab or Turkish, but fighting together to protect THEIR Empire. What a cruel War, but also what noble reason to fight

I’m from an arab bedouin tribe who has a legacy of participating in the great arab revolt of 1916 and even local revolts prior to that. Not to mention that my father’s grandfather was forced into service and was drafted to Gallipoli as a part of the “sefirberlik” system that the ottomans used, which that system was also one of the reasons for the Kerak revolt of 1910 (which my tribe participated in) Nonetheless, ottomans were chill asl till the last 100 years
