    21:46 "Recepie for not getting very far" and even most importantly recepie for getting brain damage. I think that a lot of fighters prefer to be somewhere they know and not very far to train for the convenience but they trade brain cells for that. This is very bad trade in my opinion. If it's any other sport and they get paid well, than whatever stay close to home, have a day job even. But MMA is life and death "sport". And on the side topic, that's exactly why I don't judge fighters that much for taking PEDs. If you don't take them, you're putting yourself at a disadvantage because everybody are on something anyway. If I was ever a profesional fighter I would take everything that I can get away with, that's for sure. I'm not playing with my life.

      I do think a lot of guys miss out on new skills and development because of this. You see it in other sports where someone changes teams, they get given a new role and then flourish. How much is Bryce missing out on by not going somewhere else and finding out when he is capable of? I'm not suggesting he'll be a muay Thai wizard, but he'll get something out of it. Also I'm not sure you can be a full time farmer and a champ. Would kind of make the sport look bad if he did

    Felt so sorry for Volk but fighting Islam on short notice was too much. Even on full camp I wouldn't of picked Volk. Khamzat is a force in the 1st beatable in every other round I think the Usman fight should have been a draw. The rest of the card was really weird and sh!t in places.

    Comment before I even listen the whole review, lads. I had the sneaking suspicion that Volk will get sparked. He was susceptible for high kicks in the 1st fight and Holloway was giving him trouble in their 2nd fight with the same kicky approach. Kamaru when he was in his prime could win this fight especially if it was 5 rounds. I'm fairly sure about that.

    • @holdonimtalkingbrother2323
      @holdonimtalkingbrother2323 Год назад

      The thing that did for him in that 2nd Max fight was his stance shift which Max countered with uppercuts up the middle, and Max baiting him by moving backwards. Also there's not a man alive who fights at 155 that can beat Makhachev on 12 days notice. Kamaru of his prime would have won this over 5 rounds, I have no doubt about that. It's just that's not who we have, and so the natural order of MMA, of the old passing on to the new, continues.

      Did he drop Volk with a high kick from Southpaw? I feel like the memory of that is coming through the haze of my memory. as for the other 155ers I'm not entirely sure. Part of me does think they should have gone with Gamrot as he had been training for the fight for a lot longer, and may have put up a better effort. It's hard to say in retrospect but now I think we should be given Makhachev's full campaign at 155 and let him work through all the contenders.

Logic would always dictate me picking the proven champion of the weight class they were both in, but there's an energy that sways me to Khamzat. @@holdonimtalkingbrother2323 Joe, a hot take: after watching that Sterling fight, I think Aljo probably was gonna win this fight even if Dillashaw wasn't compromised! Dillashaw isn't hard hitter, so safe to assume he had to win a decision. Also he has shorter reach and he have to crash the pocket to land, even if he diguise his entries well, he needs to be perfect every time. To me, urine and blood sample when the bout agreement is signed and one before the fight should be enough. Not enough to deter cheaters agree, but some testing to say they test, and in the same time not too invasive into fighter's schedule and personal life and won't get false positives and ruin fights and events.

    • @holdonimtalkingbrother2323

      exactly this for me. We all know there are ways around USADA and their testing, like they just do not pick up on microdosing at all, I just want this next agency to prioritise people's health. I know that the UFC will be dishing out the punishments as well now, which will make people think they'll hide it for people they like. They may well do that, however that would open them up to lawsuits if something bad happened, so I think it's unlikely to see that done egregiously.

    • @kylestephens9593
      @kylestephens9593 Год назад

      @@holdonimtalkingbrother2323 (sorry for long comment, Joe) It's not this type of lawsuit that you mentioned, Joe, but I would like to say that Luke Thomas said that USADA was introduced to make the UFC look more legit and to UFC to cover their behinds if something bad happens in the octagon. On the surface - very wise. But no testing (or light testing) would've result in very rare positive doping tests, and in turn rare bad pubicity. So if you wanna make your sport seem legit don't test and there will be no bad PR with positive test? And on "insurance" side of things when one think about it in history of combat sport (not just mma) real, proven dangers for fighter's safety are the following: 1. egregious mismatches 2. pre-fight medicals done poorly 3. tampered gear (gloves, wraps) 4. bad referees (not calling fouls, late stoppages) If I am a MMA fighter I would prefer to fight for promotion that don't test, but does these 4 points well, than a promotion where everydoby's clean but the referee lets the other guy hit me on the back of my head 😂

      I was typing out a response to this but I think a video might be better to fully go into this. Thank you for commenting, it can never be too long 🤠

    I think they just switched testing agencies. There were lots of complaints about usada waking fighters up the night b4 the fight or during weight cut to give their sample. I think UFC got tired of that

      the agency they're going with is the one that does it for the NFL.... which is definitely a choice. More of an IQ test than a drug test. Again, I just want it so that the fighter's and their health is most important in this, not the idea of someone being "clean" or "dirty"

    Crazy that Conor has become big enough to screw with usada testing

      I think there's a huge amount of research still to be revealed and done on this topic. For what we know now I'm pleased USADA is no longer a part of the UFC. I'm not entirely sure what benefits it gave the fighters

      @holdonimtalkingbrother2323 I don't think they had been perfect by no means ruining careers based of not much. They havnt shown how they have actually performed. However, if usada will go. Will be have anything else in place? Are we going towards a pride 2.0, the un retirement of ubereem and brock? Are we coming back out of the dad bod era ?

      @holdonimtalkingbrother2323 I mean. I'm all for pushing whats humanly possible in non contact spots I want to see the 100m ran in 7 seconds. But in combat sports I'm not sure yet. Because there will always be a mike bisping type person who won't take anything.

      I think we've partly had this answered for us now that the UFC will be using DFSI, which is more of an IQ test. As long as fighters can recover and be healthy that's what I want.

    Honestly seeing the previous episode talk about how easy it is for adesanya to get the win made me hype for this episode. Sean Strickland world champion!!!

      The thing that still kind of baffles me is that Strickland did exactly what I expected... I just didn't think it would work lol. Fair play to the man, but Izzy's next fight is crucial

    I want Dawson to win just because Green's fighting style rubs me the wrong way. I can appreciate doggedly going for TDs, but pretending that you do something in the fights, but in fact you do f all, and to talk trash on top of that the worst combination. And it's not like Green has poor cardio or he's slow or chinny. The guy still has his abilities, but refuse or can't use them. He's just kinda there participating... Sorry Bobby.

      I kind of agree with you. I think he is doing his best and trying to push himself, I would just appreciate a bit of a realisation that the trash talk followed by out pointing someone with jabs and shoulder rolls creates a disconnect (although his style does mean he's unlikely to KO people).
