Back in the 1990s I had one those gigantic mid 70s Chevy Impalas with a trunk you could probably fit a cow into , so being 20 years old and having a little bit of money I had the most powerful amp and the biggest box and highest quality speakers installed in the trunk ,Bose 6×9s in the doors , dash Bass for days and a beautiful sound Unlike a lot of friends and people with less refined taste I didn't get it to cruise town bumping hip hop. Saturdays we would hit the record store and usually the liquor store then head for the boondocks or the river bank or wherever my people were congregated or just try to get lost in the southern Indiana hills and back roads One night when we were all particularly stoned someone played this song and it seemed to me that the bass guitar sound and the groove was just stellar. It was actually the precise moment I realized that even though I had never played a note my next major purchase was going to be a bass guitar and rig . I didn't even contemplate the possibility that I wouldn't be able to learn it. I had to. My first bass guitar was a beautiful EB3 (which I still have along with 3 or 4 others I've picked up over the years). No RUclips tutorials in those days obviously so You either got a teacher or you just picked it up often and learned by ear and memory which is what I did . ( later I studied a bit of theory and I don't regret it). Eventually I could not only play , I could groove. I have never got tired of playing the bass and i still love the feeling of picking up my bass and knowing by the way it feels in my hand if the bounce is going to be there that night. I can't imagine my life without playing bass and I might not have ever got the inspiration if not for this bass line , which by the way you play beautifully. Thanks for the vid. 🪒🤕
