@@srnmw oh yeah that would have been worth gold in quarantine! i was at home and im a prepper so i was cruising ... even gave out some toilet paper lol. the main reason im looking at this portable hot pot is something to use thats compact and low wattage for my solar genorator when out camping or in a power outage to offset my trangia spirit burner cookset and tiny gas burner set up . I meen im in the sunniest state in the sunniest continent on earth ... silly not to cover solar. but this thing will go everywhere with me ..even good during fire bans camping :)with a decent solar generator and panells

Funny you should say that! They didn't weigh us at the airport, but they did check everyone's bags for tag confirmation at the gate! They stopped a passenger with an untagged carry-on while we were in line, and they had to swipe their credit card before they scanned their boarding pass. Yes, you have to pay for bin access (carry-on bag) or for a piece of luggage, and it's a high fee considering they're an ULCC. But we flew on a fare of $130 roundtrip with taxes per person. It pays to fly light! - (Phil)

By the time I was able to board that flight, I had been refunded a couple of times by the airline because of changing travel regulations during the early phases of the pandemic. Plus, finally being able to bring my wife home on this trip (after being granted the right to live in Canada with me) made me a happy penguin! - (Phil)

Good point! How to plate the food to maximize the pleasure is very important! I believe the restaurant did this, as we ordered as a group, and it was better for the environment to keep everything in one takeout container. But, it was delicious in every combination possible. :) - (Phil)

Excellent question! Health Canada says "There are no known health hazards associated with use of silicone cookware". I haven't seen any leeching in use (at least visibly) since I started using this hot pot two years ago. Of course, you decide if this is safe equipment in the end along with its associated risks. It's also interesting to note that the hot pot shuts off after a certain temperature, which ironically made it harder for me to cook pasta in soup for example. Our flight was operated from Pearson. Often there are sales or special discounts that have occasional deals like this (right now, Thunder Bay has some tickets from $58 in January 2023!) so it's all in the search! Thanks for your comment, and the clarity! I've heard EVA/Eva pronounced both ways by the airline, and I think the airline loves the chat about their brand regardless! I first flew Eva from HKG to TPE in 2005 and they were amazing, even back then. Transpacific flights usually have fun snacks on board (since it's a long journey and of course, our tummies are hungry during a 15 hour flight)! I was recently on Singapore Airlines (review coming soon) and that flight had a strict policy - ask them for the snacks instead of the snacks being offered on the cart willy nilly. This is the hotel we stayed at while transferring between flights - the border was closed so this was available since it's directly above the gates. It's probably available for departure (since it's in the secure departures area), but ask ahead for confirmation.
