Thank you for your question. Yes, I soaked my Honeywort seeds for 24 hours prior to planting.

Thank you for your question. The spires that the flowers bloom on turn to seed in the fall. I leave them on the plant so the birds can forage, but you can harvest them once they are dried. @@NMHighDesertGarden it was bareroot and grafted? Just curious because Lowes don't sell that specific variety in pots only bareroot and have to be ordered online and I really want to order one because can't find it anywhere else thank you for answering 😊 you have a beautiful red bartlett pear tree keep up the great work!!

@@rubenmv91 Ours was potted, about 4 or 5 feet tall and not grafted. I’m not a fan of grafted fruit trees. I bought an apple tree online that was bareroot and grafted. After a night of strong winds, it snapped at the graft, so our tree is only about a foot tall right now. Since it was grafted, we don’t know what type of tree we have growing. Have you checked in a Lowe’s store or other garden centers for a potted red Bartlett pear tree?

@@NMHighDesertGarden Saddly here in Michigan nobody sells that particular variety only the Green or yellow one. And I been looking online, but even there it's really hard to find 😓 Lowes around here sells little to no fruit trees.

I like a challenge and growing a garden in the high desert can be a challenge. It’s really rewarding when we have successes. That’s awesome that you have so many seedlings growing. Thank you! I understand your hesitation. We have strong Spring winds that can destroy small tender plants, so I sometimes wait a little longer to plant outdoors too.

What time of year did you plant them? If it was late in the season, they might not have had long to grow. They do need some time to establish their roots, but once they’ve done that, they should grow fairly large each year. Remember the garden saying for perennials…The first year they sleep, the second year they creep and the third year they leap.

@NMHighDesertGarden I planted some in March and April in the southeast. I see some coming back out. I hope it gets big. I'm going to plant more. Also did black eyed Susan's and one of them grew huge, it was a seedling I moved. Thanks for your reply

@@franciscorazo3458hmm that’s interesting where are you located ? Here in the south west it is almost invasive , I scorched the roots and dug it up when I planted a vitex 10 years ago and now the vitex is huge and it still comes up underneath the vitex every year! They need direct hot scorching sun don’t overwater.

Thanks for your comment. You are right. Unfortunately, garden nurseries don’t always advertise these as a biennial or short-lived perennial. I did read that they can naturalize. I’ll see how it fairs this next summer and provide an update.

Unfortunately these seeds weren’t viable. After several weeks there was no germination.

@@NMHighDesertGarden sorry about that! I’ve found that a lot of desert plants can survive for a very long time in the soil even after years. I’ve seen a Yucca elata seed germinate after 3 years in soil so don’t give up hope haha

I had never heard of them before, but when I ordered seeds from Baker Creek earlier this year, they sent me a free packet of Spoon tomato seeds. I love unique things so I will definitely grow these again. Thanks for watching.
