Thaks the the content guys. You guys have took this hobby to a whole new level. I keep everything super simple 8l instant pot, cheap little ffu, popcorn, pp5 jars, shoeboxes and just agar. Im not messing with LC or anything

I love the little micro grows! Those small trays and the shoebox with the shammy are genius man. I'm totally gonna try that technique for some of my gourmet breeding projects with top fruiting species. I can think of a few that won't be affected by the higher co2. Total space saver

I love those little trays you’re using👍 The best advice I try to give to new cultivators is don’t put all your eggs in one basket. You’re going to have failures, that’s to be expected until you dial in your methods that are optimal for your environment and all sorts of little variables that new cultivators don’t have a “feel” for yet. Rather than starting out with a 52qt tub, take the same amount of material and run eight small trays like you’re using or small bags…If a couple tam out or get bacteria you still had successes. If your big monotub goes sideways you have nothing to show for all the work you put in and that can be very discouraging for novice cultivators; furthermore, those trays like that are much easier to manage👍🍄💙

2% Oatmeal yeast dextrose agar for me lately. Made some pineapple rind potato media a few hundred plates ago got some wild morphologies on them plates. Boiled corn stalks once too. LMFAO 🤣 although normally I rotate between pda, mya, and oyd. The range of carbs and startches we can use is wild. I love peptone- soy at 0.1 g per 500 ml once in a while or maybe one bottle out of the 5 I pour per session. Helps train the mycelium to soy hulls

I watched a bit of the previous video. You mentioned some of your swab plates are bacterial in this one. It is incredible how quickly bacteria start to grow on mature fruit. Once they start getting floppy and have really dark gills, they are going bacterial. I think you might be waiting a day or two too long to swab. I swab dark spore-droppers as soon as I see spore residue/dark color on the stem. Albinos are a little trickier. I usually try to let the most mature fruit just start to turn blue. I then go for the fruit that haven't developed any blue color and swab those.

So I asked Ed on a live if he thought a potato ricer would work for squeezing sub... I tried and it does work, but with the amount of clean-up, its not worth it. An apple press, I bet would work though. 🤔

Awesome tip putting the plate upside down. I’m going to try to remember to try that. I enjoy working over an open oven more than SAB though. Less restrictive. But hot 🥵

The SAB videos are very helpful. I’d love to see one on proper technique with syringes for inoculation and how to keep it from being contaminated after use.

I always pick-up some words of wisdom from your videos. Thank you. Playing the game of trying to use all the plates I've unwrapped has become source of entertainment while I'm pouring. I've got it to where I'm usually within 1-2 plates. I was using different style agar flasks. Now I just us 4 that are exactly the same. It's a little easier to adjust those last 5-10 plates so I can use all of them. Rewrapping unused plates always terrifies me. Did you ever try the big (7200 ml) Sterilite containers for storage or unused and poured plates? Love to rope lighting. You could open the clean room Disco ;)
