It's not really about historical accuracy, the only time it became that was when the developers kept talking about historical accuracy in-game, which was countered by so many people because it clearly wasn't accurate. Like the different seasons being combined into one, and the structure designs being Chinese inspired, the torii shrine also becomes an entrance to the village (LMAO). The true problem lies in the forced DEI, and what I mean by that is that Ubisoft got injected by the SBI agenda. You know, that narrative development company that ruins games by checking all the boxes and turning everyone gay. But I think this game would have been better received if they made both main characters native of Japan, with Yasuke being a supporting character that is eventually unlocked as a playable character via DLC.

I'm not going to sit here and pretend that there are 0 people upset about his race because they are racist, of course that's a thing. But I think it's pretty disingenuous to say the only reason people are upset is because they are racist. This is one of the clearest cases of pandering I've ever seen and we've all seen a lot of it... I mean out of all the AC games that exist, name one other where you play as a real historical figure. I'll help, there isn't a single one... So why do you think they decided to change that all of a sudden? They are pandering to what they thought the zeitgeist wanted and it turns out most people are just sick of it. If in AC Origin we played as a white guy I'd find it just as distasteful, especially if they tried to justify by using an actual historical figure. These people don't just hate black people, AC Origins pushed 10 million units and that game was about as generic as they get.
