I appreciate that! Thanks for watching the new one.
Great job. I liked your effort to keep equipment to a minimum.
Thanks for checking it out. The minimalism was a good challenge.
Thanks Jacob! We used to make A/V scripts with Final Draft software and now they don't offer an A/V script template anymore; it's all narrative long form.
@@robert_starling Oh yeah, FD AV. I remember it being a stand alone software. Glad the video was helpful to you.
Amazing. Thanks for creating these videos.
Thanks James! I tried to respond to your email, but it bounced back a couple times.
Your videos are very helpful, thank you!
Hi Paige, great to hear! Let me know if there are other aspects of the process that you'd be interested in hearing about. Thanks for watching.
What grip gear is that?
Nanlite Forza 720B Kupo Baby Roller Stand (8.8') Kupo Heavy-Duty Steel Baby Boom Arm
So useful. In school they never actually teach you process on feature editing this in depth because they only expect you to edit student short films, now working assistant editing a feature I feel a bit lost
Great to hear the video was helpful to you. I’ll planning some more videos on narrative feature editing later this year. Good luck on your project.
Quality content. Thank you!
Great to hear. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for a clear explanation of these processes!
Thanks! Glad it was helpful!
Middel. 😄 ❤
Good catch. 🤦♂️
I convey this idea to my students all the time. I am saving this video for my next class. Thank you.
Wonderful! I hope your students get some inspiration from the video. Let me know if there are other aspects of the process they'd like to hear about.
So glad i ran into this channel. Thank you. studying to become a (classical 2D) animator there were no classes about video editing, because every frame is planned ahead. 15 years forward in time and i'm glad I found your channel to teach myself the basics that i miss and needed for recent career change.
Great to hear the video was helpful. I've work on a few animation projects and found editing animatics has been a very valuable and exciting part of the process. Cutting live action is fascinating though, especially narrative where there can be unique options based on the different takes.
Great short differentiation of stringout and assembly Edit. Thanks. Cheers from LA
Thanks Markus!
Hey Jacob, I'm a comedy channel \ editor - but this video was super helpful for me today! Thanks!!
That’s great to hear Alex! Thanks for watching!
When I tried this in davinci on my video, auto align clip options are grayed out - any other ideas on how to align my audio? Thanks!
I haven't experienced this, and tried to replicate your issue today but wasn't able to get the syncing options to gray out. What is the source of your audio and video? Perhaps the two sources have different frame rates?
I figured it out. It was not synced on my laptop but the audio and video were linked. Once I rendered it, all was in sync. Thanks for your response. @@jacobpander
@@simplysocialkids Great. Happy it worked out.

You bet. Thanks for subscribing.
Wow.
Is everything 'passionate' these days? It seems nothing is worth doing without passion. Or so I'm told.
Passion seems to be a catch all, and can mean a lot of different things to people. Most creative endeavors are ultimately labor. The question is, what interests you and what motivates you to do the work?
Very Well shot and very well edited
Much appreciated! Thanks for taking a look.
Sweet and fun! Beautifully filmed. I decided to check out your channel and loved your introductory video. Your approach to art is wonderful. I definitely live by "glocal" 🙂and I subscribed. I am looking forward to see what you will share and create.

Cool. Thanks Justin. Looking forward to seeing your new Dandy's video!
Nice to see this.
Thanks Bob :)
I spent an hour trying to hand-align my audio clips with my video, for a live music show. One of the video sources was a drone camera so there is no audio on that source. These tools look amazing, it would be interesting to see how well they work with wide-shot drone sources.
A good way to sync up your drone footage with your audio is to begin recording your audio on a separate recorder, then stand in front of your drone's camera while it's still close to you and visibly clap your hands so that you capture that on camera while your audio recorder hears that same sound. Then later, when you bring it in to edit, you just line up the clap's visual and audio and you're good to go.
Gold
Thanks Ross!
@jacobpander it's great to hear from someone on youtube who's clearly got industry experience and has put methods to the test. Looking forward to more. SUBSCRIBED. 😊

I finally sat down and was able to watch all of this with no interruptions last night. What a beautiful tribute to your fathers life. Your grandfathers work was truly amazing as well. A work of art showing a fathers and grandfathers works of art. I like the music that goes along with it as well. Bravo Jacob. ✌💚

The doc is dripping with love - for all and everything. Despite being timely, it has a sweetly profound timeless undercurrent.
Thank you DJ. I appreciate you and your thoughtful feedback on the film.

@@jacobpander thanks Jacob, actually i work for a documentary about a former tennis Nr. 1 in germany 🎾 all filmed with the FX6 🎥💪🏻
Thank you for this deeply moving film. Henk's narration, paintings, video brought back the grief I felt seeing TV news reports of the defacement of the Mark Hatfield Courthouse: the ugly words, the incoherent anger, the violence, armed confrontations .I live in Seattle now, but I was inside the Hatfield Courthouse many times in the 1990s and early 2000s, representing the Portland League of Women Voters at Federal naturalization ceremonies. The dignity of the courtrooms, the many backgrounds of the presiding judges, the pride of new citizens from as many as 60 countries at a single ceremony as each was introduced and congratulated -- an experience I treasure. The courtrooms and pubic spaces include magnificent works of art by Oregon artists, expressing the spirit of democracy. Sandra (Sunny) Stone's choice of quotation is inscribed on the exterior of the building is prescient: "The boisterous sea of liberty is never without a wave" -- Thomas Jefferson.
Hello Joella, Thank you for watching the film, and for your thoughtful recollections of the time you spent at the Hatfield Courthouse in Portland. I remember my dad going through that same naturalization ceremony years ago surrounded by others from all around the world and feeling the profound nature of the shared experience.
@@jacobpander I am still gripped by the father-son film. Remind me, I think I remember a Henk landscape in the Hatfield Building. But that image may be from some other place. If in the Hatfield center, can you reproduce it here?
Perfect timing my friend. I am beginning the journey to directing my first film and your videos are giving me great solace. It feels as if you are speaking to me with advice and direction and yet in return I can share that with others as well. A win-win I feel. Thank you Jacob for continuing to be one who shares their talent with others. It has always been very much appreciated.
Thanks, Jamie. Great to hear you're diving into directing your first film. I look forward to seeing where the journey takes you.
