Impact on emissions: Faster last-mile deliveries mean more vehicles on the road, which increases emissions of greenhouse gases and other pollutants. In fact, according to a report by the World Economic Forum, the transportation sector is responsible for approximately one-quarter of global greenhouse gas emissions. 2. Increase in traffic congestion: Quicker last-mile deliveries also contribute to increased traffic congestion in urban areas, which can lead to delays, higher fuel consumption, and more emissions. This not only impacts the environment but also has economic and social costs, such as lost productivity and increased air pollution-related health problems. 3. Pressure on logistics providers: Quicker last-mile deliveries put pressure on logistics providers to meet tight delivery timelines, which can lead to increased stress and burnout among drivers and other logistics personnel. This can result in high staff turnover and lower employee morale, which ultimately impacts the quality of service provided. 4. Need for sustainable solutions: To address the negative impact of quicker last-mile deliveries on sustainability, logistics providers need to adopt more sustainable practices such as electric vehicles, route optimization, and shared delivery options. This not only reduces emissions but also lowers operating costs and improves customer satisfaction. 5.
