Politz Synthetic Oil Plant. Poland.
Constructed in 1937 in what was still Germany, this synthetic fuel manufacturing plant used high pressured hydrogenation processes to convert powdered lignite coal into liquid fuels. This included high-grade gasoline and aviation fuel. The process was called the Bergius process, named after its inventor and Nobel prize winner, Freidrich Bergius. The plant was jointly owned by IG Farben, Rhenania-Ossag, and a German subsidiary of Standard Oil.
Throughout World War II, the plant also acted as a subcamp for the Stutthof, Sachsenhausen and Ravensbrück concentration camps, whose prisoners made up a majority of the plant’s labour force. Between 1933 and 1945, Nazi Germany and its allies establis...

The interesting thing is that Operation Chariot is hardly known (even in St. Nazaire). There is a momorial but apart from that and the canon on the roof of the covered lock there is hardly or little mention of the greatest raid of them all....

16:27 I believe the canon of the Campbell Town was found in the open air lock to the left when it was drained for repairs in (I believe) the 1990's... Imagine the power of the explosives in the bow of the Campbell Town blowing off a gun and launching it over 60 meters away...

I have been to Saint Nazaire (the location of the Normandy dock and of operation Chariot - the Greatest Raid of them All) If you go into the U boat pens (which are like most of them in some civilian use nowadays) you really appreciate the build quality, the enormous size and generally how awesome these pens are... the Germans did a wonderful job on the construction... The French, if they wanted to get rid of them, can not budge them or even chip them...

Hi Billy, just been going through some of your video, and all are excellent. Look forward to meeting up when I'm back in the UK. So sad to see your Lee and Dad being mentioned, i also miss them very much, as they were both part of my life. Come to see me in Singapore, as i live so close to many of the battle fields here, Dairy Farm is only a short walk, and was a major battle ground against the Japanese. Look up Bukit Timah, Dairy Farm, and you will see what i mean. See you in the summer.

Interesting video, thank you for sharing this. The 380 mm Reinmetal weapon you described sounds like what they mounted on the Sturmtiger. It was an infrantry support vehicle designed to level buildings.

@@bunkersfortificationsandme7688 I am awaiting the video on Reinmetal. They produced many cutting edge weapons.

@@joelex7966 Hi Joe. I accidently posted the reply to you before i finished it, so i will start again. I did a bit more research on Rheinmetall after i posted the video. One of the weapons that they did build was the MG42, but the company got bogged down by nazi bureaucracy. And it does appear that German workers appeared to be `kind` to the slave workers ( testimonies in the attached clip ) i should be going into Poland this year, and I'm sure that one area that I'm going to, is where they tested the Rheinbot missile. thsnks for watching and commenting 🙂 www.rheinmetall.com/en/company/history/125-years-rheinmetall/years-1936-1945
