Wow! What a difference this will make to an otherwise unpleasant part of the west island! Very excited to see this get developed over the years. I have one question/concern though. While the promenade will be great for residents accessing local businesses within the development, I don’t see it being a viable means of active transportation for daily commuting. A mixed use pathway would mean lower speeds for bikes and scooters in order to avoid conflict with pedestrians and won’t be practical for people who want to access the REM, for example, using these methods of transportation. Are there plans for including a dedicated bike lane along saint-charles? Are faster-moving cyclists going to be expected to share the bus lane? Or are alternative routes going to be developed in parallel? It seems a shame to not include dedicated bike infrastructure for daily commuting in a plan that will affect the city for generations.

My understanding of the Universal Changing Room is that it's a locker-room where no-nudity is permitted. When you want to change your clothes, you go from the locker room into one of the changing stalls which will provide privacy by having tall walls, no cracks in doors, and doors which go very near to the floor. After you're changed, you leave the stalls, and go back to your lockers to put your stuff away. This experience sounds very similar to the family changing rooms at the DDO pool which my family finds very convenient. It's also my understanding that there will be two separate shower areas. One will provide private shower stalls in which one can disrobe and have a full shower. The other will be an open shower where everyone will go to rinse while wearing their bathing suits before entering the pool. In short, anywhere where someone might be naked or exposed, there is a private stall involved. It also sounds like for both the changing stalls, and the shower stalls, some will be family/accessibility-sized, and others will be individually-sized. Am I right in understanding that the "extra security" in the locker room that was mentioned multiple times comes from the increased traffic of not differentiating between genders and because it's visible from the pool? Also, how many family/accessibility-sized stalls will there be vs how many individually-sized ones?

Je trouve que c'est une vrai horreur. Énorme gaspillage d'espace. Un lieu froid et un service quelquefois à la limite de l'insulte. Cette structure et les espaces qu'elle renferme semblent avoir la vocation d'être une sorte de parc d'attractions stériles et de mettre en valeur l'imagination aseptisée des architectes, au lieu de procurer un véritable lieu voué à l'ouvrage écrit.

La pollution à Rive-Boisée qui dure depuis plus de 50 ans sera-t-elle corrigée au cours de ce mandat du maire Jim Beis? Élu pour la première fois en 2013, réélu en 2017, maintenant en 2021. That's great about the changing tables, but how about providing clean regular (not chemical, not dry) bathrooms for adults open in ALL parks, during opening hours? When an adult or a toddler needs to go to the bathroom, they find a way, even if not in a proper restroom, and that leaves lots of trash and bad smell behind. We're human beings. We need bathrooms in ALL public facilities!

I hope you all saw the newscast on Global telling the fact that people use the Lalande road to avoid the traffic on Gouin Blvd. So with this speed lowering the police have to be present to issue tickets/penalties. Besides the noisy cars with non functioning mufflers, which I hope the police will add to the ticket.

if I was the owner of the property i would sue the borough or i would appeal to the aglomeration commitee. The borough is rejecting this project because it doesnt want upset a handful of milionaires on lalande st. It has nothing to do with the PIIA. the borough has approved dozens of replacement projects that go against the character of the surrounding area. On deslauriers street half the street now has mansions that have destroyed once was once an affordable middle class quiet street. same thing in roxboro or the avenues around the REM, which is another atrocity the ubarn planning comittee has been commiting. Nowhere in the entire country do you see communauties building million dollar single family homes around mass public transit. The city is supposed to enforce the PMAD (60 lodgings per hectare) and promote sustainable development. But they just stick their head in the sand and approve whatever people dont complain about and reject whatever a handul of NIMBY's oppose. There is no real urban planning in Pierrefonds and thats why architecturally its a mess, the deciders are the Karens of the community who want to be left alone. But this will all blow up in their face in 5 years when the municipality recieves its first bill from the ARTM , because of the low population density , taxes will skyrocket. The REM is very expensive and is based on a fixed ridership calculation of 72 cent per KM per rider (5 times the cost of the metro). What this means is the greater the population the lower the taxes. Right now , postal code H8Y would have to increase its population by 6 000 residents just to have an AVERAGE Montreal population density. Jim Beis and his team will win the next election but they will definitly lose the next one after that for lack of planning and foresight. furthermore in 20 years from now urban planners will look back at the roxboro and sunnybrooke REM creation and scratch their heads as to what the urban planning commitee were thinking building mansions so close to public transit. Its almost like this team has no competences whatsoever to handle the massive implications and consequences that REM will bring to the community. And finally, as for the character of lalande street, the massive mansions on that street were all built in the last 3 decades, how did they fit in to their surroundings?? THEY DIDNT, so it is them that didnt belong there...residents welcomed these uber rich residents into their neighborood and now those rich residents are pushing out the locals. Pierrefonds-Roxboro is slowly becoming a community where either you are extremely rich and control the city council or you are super poor and excluded and marginalised. Its so backwards and heartbreaking to see my childhood neighborood being turning into a town with massive inequality, no middle class to bridge it , Most the residents who grew up here now live in Vaudreuil , because the people we elected dont care about people, they care about votes and taking the path of least resistance. but its coming.. you will see in 5 years, it wont just be the Karens you will have to worry about , it will be the majority who will be angry at the taxes raised because we will be so few residents funding the Rolls Royce version of public transit and the cost of constant flooding.

Le comité s'est attardé plutôt aux soulèvement de la question de la preservation de la forêt sans toutefois adresser le manque de consultation des aînés dans ce projet. S'il y a une chose qu'on doit apprendre de la pandémie c'est belle et bien de ne plus mettre les aînés dans un concept de milieu de vie qui les obligent à vivre en trop grande proximité. En effet les experts s'entende sur le fait que notre bilan le plus élevé au Canada de décès d'aînés dû à la Covid s'explique par la suivante : la population du Québec est vieille et plus de gens âgés, fragiles et vulnérables sont en établissement, dans des bâtiments gros et décrépits, propices à la propagation. On aurait plus intérêt à regarder du côté du concept des Maisons des Aînés. Je vous assure qu'en tant qu'ainés moi et mes connaissances n'ont aucun désire d'aller vivre dans un endroit pareil où le leitmotiv est simplement le profit du propriétaire. Par contre on aimerait bien conserver un beau et rare boisé et pouvoir s'y promener comme au Parc Terracotta à Pointe-Claire.

Comme aux États-Unis il y a un camion citerne qui dépanne les résidents est-ce-que celà est possible sur cette rue?

Des millions de dollars pour la nouvelle bibliothèque, mais pas d'abribus à l'extérieur sur le boulevard Pierrefonds. Dans les deux sens est ou ouest. Le béton a été mis en place, mais rien de toiture pour la pluie et la neige, rien pour briser le vent et les éclaboussures. Millions of dollars for the new library but no bus shelters outside on Pierrefonds Blvd. In either direction east or west. The concrete has been placed but nothing to keep off the rain and snow, nothing to break the wind and traffic splashes.
