Pistol Drill of the Week (grip control) - Ladder Drill
CFI patch standard drill of the week:
"Ladder" Drill
-
Keep that support hand grip locked in through 6 target transitions & end with speed!
Drill breakdown in the video.
-
Blue patch time: 6.4
Red patch time: 7.4
White patch time: 11.2
Only clean runs count
•
*BONUS Tip : Trigger control needs to be at an auto pilot level to run this one at red or blue patch times. Make sure you begin the transition IMMEDIATELY when you see the sight rise (sometimes a fraction of a second before) and don't forget to hit the confirmation level brakes when it comes to that A box - it'll make you pay!

What makes a good Carry Belt?

The 3 things I look for in a good Carry Belt after years of tests. • Rigidity & Adjustability • I also like an option that doesn’t scream GUN BELT to anyone who sees it. • Not sponsored by @Nexbelt just a fan.

For a California compliant version a trigger pull will not work, you must push forward the sear deactivation lever to remove the slide.
I didnt put the take down pin in before putting slide on, now i cant get the slide ofd PLEASE PLEASE HELP

Peach my guy
Couldn't fund a better place to do a video?? Maybe your mom's basement .?
Bullets ...
More gunfire next time, I could almost hear the guy talking

I have often wondered why all these gun makers all make the same 1"10 right hand twist barrel??? Why do they not offer a pistol like this with a Crowned Match Grade Barrel as an option???
Great, great video but I do have a question. My Shield Plus is brand new and has not been fired yet. That take down lever, like you stated, is hard as hell to move. Can I add a little oil around that or inside when I have it torn down or will that cause other issues? Thank you for such an informative video!
Couldnt tell from the video but does this pistol have a similar firing pin barrel block as with a glock pistol? Im interested in this firearm but i have always had a "maybe not springfield pistols" gut feeling but this one is giving "they did it right".
Thank you your training was excellent. It’s a little different than taken apart in 1911. But you made it easy thank you.
When i turn the takedown lever its very gritty feeling, audibly as well. Is that the interface with the spring or?
thank you thank you sir
"Safe", "quick", "accurate" and "straight to the point". A compliment as big as the pun :P Thank you for this lesson :)
That kid who took apart the mechanical pencil in school, this is him now.
If he's him, he's HIM :P
The maintenance schedule at the beginning of this video is awesome! Thanks for that.
You bet! They don't need quite the amount of maintenance we were lead to believe growing up. I think dad just liked getting the free labor out of it. You can always do it more than that but a good field strip, dry brush, wipe down and oiling should do the trick!
You know S&W actually designed this pistol with that sear deactivation lever exactly for the reason that you wouldn't need to pull the trigger to disassemble?
I wish I had seen this video before. All of the ones I saw had this little yellow "thing" I had to move ... the new shield pluses don't.
Mine has the yellow thing…but when you pull the trigger for disassembly, you don’t need to mess with the yellow “thing.”
Release the slide forward with your hand ... don't let it slam shut without a snap cap or bullet in the chamber.
The plastic of the magazine broke when packing. I bought it 2 days ago unfortunately 👎🏻
Great Video! The best explanation of field stripping and assembly.
Dumb question, which parts do you need to lube?
actually not a dumb question we were just going over this in a class yesterday. The main parts you want to have a BIT of oil on (don't leave the thing dripping wet) are going to be: outside of the barrel, underside of the slide, and the grooves cut into the slide.
Done! Thank you. That takedown lever is something else, it’s stiff!great channel, subscribed!
Thank you! Just got mine yesterday and going to the range tonight
I have yet to fire my threaded-barrel version of the weapon. How is it for you? :)
Why didn't you lower the sear disconnect as it states to do so in the manual?
Absolutely the best how to!!!! Thank you
You're welcome! Glad you liked it
Fantastic tutorial 👍🏻 I’ve watched several and this one is by far the best thanks !
Glad it was helpful!
I have a brand new Shield Plus and the takedown lever is really stiff. What can I do?
the only thing I've found to help break them in is to use them. Both disassembling multiple times and shooting it a bunch. It'll never be butter soft easy but it will loosen up to something manageable in just a few trips to the range and take downs in my experience.
@@cobaltfirearminstruction2003 Thanks for the reply. That is what I thought. I was hoping there was an oil that I might use, but I will wait until I go to the range this weekend and then do a cleaning. Your videos are really great.
It was like you were in the room with me. You are a great teacher. Thanks from a real nubie.
My pleasure!
Great info, Chris! Looks like I’m (currently) a thumb stacker. Do you exert any pressure on your support hand from your firing hand thumb? Or should you essentially be able to wiggle your firing hand thumb while maintaining proper grip?
I just let her rest. Good check in is to see if the tip starts going white around the fingernail sometimes its easy to grip it down without realizing it. I try to make sure all the strength in my firing hand grip comes from my middle, ring, and pinky finger and the palm, I do my best not to get my thumb involved at all. 👍
No trickery lol just hold the cartridge so the primer is up and the bullet is down that way water cant get in! Lol
Comparable to the Springfield xd field strip. Perfect…thnx👍🏼
Yep, super similar mechanics on both. Lots of the manufacturers go with either this style or the glock-style takedown tab method. If you can identify which type you're working with you can figure out 80+% of modern firearms. 1911s are their own beast of course lol

Excellent tutorial. Thanks 👍🏼
You're welcome!
Like he mentioned its the exact same way with a Sig Sauer P320, providing you owned this before a 320 or owned a 320 before this, their takedowns or field stripping are the exact same along “COG’s” (central operating group) or “FCU’s” (fire control unit) are almost identical.
Thank you!
very welcome!
Thank you for the excellent video
our pleasure!
Your videos are amazing. I really like it. I am a new subscriber to your channel. Can I talk with you Cobalt Firearm.
sure thing how can we help?
Want to talk with you about your channel.@@cobaltfirearminstruction2003
Easy to follow, well explained.
thank you!
Wonder when someone will have the balls to do a full disassembly.. COG and all. I'd love to know if there's any polishing or tinkering I can do inside to make it that much more awesome with mine. I might just try it, doesn't look too difficult inside
yeah doesn't look too crazy, it'd be a fun take down for sure.
Nice video. Simple and concise. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
I would really like to see a complete breakdown. Every part out of the gun. I compare everything to a GLOCK to see how difficult and time consuming other guns are. And what tools are needed.
Yeah lots of folks looking for that, it'll be a good vid when someone gets the time to run it down to the studs
Thank you for putting this together
Very welcome, let me know if you need any help with it.
LOVE THIS! To the point and easy to follow for beginners. If you're experienced just run it on fast speed.
Thank you!
Great video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
@cobaltfirearminstruction2003 now that I have a shield plus, this helped alot.
